some kids here do get tight shots and we all want to see em, but no one wants to pay 10 bucks to see them added to other crappy friends skiing. so if your trailer isn't already all your best shit just post it all. unless you're paying a distribution company and shoot 16mm post the full length shit on SAS.

this shit only comes from ignorant assholes who weren't around when it was exciting just to see ski movies. it should still be that way. it is still like that to me.

seriously, how much do you think it costs to make a ski movie. I've been making movies for the past 3 years and I'm always losing money. some people tell me "you make money with your premiere and by selling your movies" well fuck'em ! cause it costs me about 3 times what I make with premieres and stuff to produce my movie. so fuck you if you're talking about money here, coz most of us who produce ski movies don't make a dime out of it. but to get a little something back is nice.

the fact is even a kid making movies with his parents camera at his home mointain is going to have costs, tapes are not free, and if you are selling hard copies and there is dvds and shipping.Not to mention the amount of time it takes to compile footage, lay it out and edit.

Now if some kid wants to put a free video online, thats great. Some of us just cant afford to do that.

Now if you think these dvds are not worth the money dont buy em. Period.

if you're really making movies for the pure joy of making movies and stuff doesn't it make sense to just to let people see them for free so they could enjoy it also? and in turn the more people that see it the more support you might get in the future. if you're making a dvd of you and your friends would it be better to sell 30 copies and 'profit' $300 or have tens of thousands of people see it on the internet and find out who you are and what your company is all about...

 
as someone thats been there and done that yourself, you know that selling 30 movies at $10 a piece there is no way they are actually making a profit. cameras cost money, tapes cost money, dvd's to burn the movies onto cost money, dvd cases cost money. then you move into things that could be costing money like printing covers, buying a dvd burner, gas money, lift tickets, etc.

i say sell them for a little money. anything you can get back of the money you spent is then put it into tapes for next season.

 
i missed the internet part, but still. tapes bought through wholesale companies still run ~$4.00 for a decent tape.
