The reason the population of animals on earth is not higher than it is, is because of massive natural disasters. (take the ice age as an example)
 
I'll believe somebody's date when their source has nothing to do with coincidence or the bible. It seems that just about every prediction has to do with the bible, and I have a hard time beliving a source that has caused so many problems.
 
Well, im talking about humans, after the ice age, and such....we should have much more humans than we currently have, if the pop. rates were right when i saw the graphs
 
Thomas Malthus was the man who originally came up with that. His theory started that without disease, war, famine and natural disaster, the world would over populate the world. In his research, he stated that the human race could potentially double every 25 years, without those things.

The population argument isnt valid because before modern history the death rates of humans were MUCH higher than they are today
 
Its okay. When the world doesn't end in 2012, we can all mark out calenders for next years apocalypse. I love people who rave about the end of the world. Its like a kid perpetually waiting for Christmas to come...except Santa is packing a flame thrower.

No it's very valid. We are fighting the argument right now. There are definitely more people on the planet now than there were 100 years ago.

Look at china for instance. They had to create laws about only having one child. Their population was said to be a billion years ago but is over that now.

If this keeps up, the earth will honostly run out of space in a couple hundred years. Life expectancy keeps going up man. Malthus is saying that things have a way of naturally working out so that this doesn't happen. As a biology major, the best example I can think of is how bacteria and virus can mutate. Bacteria are actually learning how to become resistant to different antibiotics. And now certain antibiotics aren't nearly as effective. My professors say that it might be possible for people to die of something as simple as strep throat in the future, unless there are serious breakthroughs. As of right now, technology is not keeping up with disease mutation.

Speaking scientifically, Evolution theory has tens of thousands of pieces of supporting evidence to its name... and, if you swing that way, it doesn't actually overlap with the most common version of ID theory, so you can believe both if you really want to. I think ID is dumb, but that's just my opinion...

To add to what Ghostdragon said, many of you are stating information from the bible that simply isn't there. If you are going to reference the bible, tell us the name of the book, the chapter and the book. LISTEN UP KIDDIES: here's the actual reasoning for the 2012 phenomenon....

We have a calender based on just havin dates to refer to occurances and history, the Mayan calender is based on life cycles, which, when you can understand it with a cleared mind, is superior to ours in every way (ours has a leap year for instance). I will not explain the whole system here because it is too much to put into words on NS, but just know that the Mayan knowledge of Time and Space is still way more advanced than ours. They proved so many things that we can't even fathom with their wisdom. Basically, cycles are everywhere and they are what our minds, world, solar system, galaxy and universe are all based on. Their calender kept time in cycles, and when they discovered and started using their calender, they didnt start out with the year 0, that would be ridiculous, instead they found the begininning of that cycle that they were in. on the winter equinox of 2012 (december 21) they mapped out that the center of our solar system's plane will actually be in the exact center of The Milky Way's plane. That means that the earth will be in the center of millions of other solar systems. This event happens on a schedule that we don't understand yet, but that the mayans had down exactly, and that why their whole system was perfect as well, they had every cycle in the world down exactly, all of which worked together in the harmonic symphony that is life. To call this the "end of the world" really doesn't do it any good, doin so conjures up crazy visions of cities destroyed, volcanoes erupting, billions dying and so forth. What it meant to the Mayans was that it was a time of being one with the spirit and the spirit world. if you want to learn more, go to a real website, but not some fanatic 2012 one, try a more scientific one if you want to really understand on that kind of level. I think our city lights and such have really changed our perspective of the heavens. Go out to a remote spot with no civilization in sight and really look up to the night sky and ask yourself if you think it's all just coincidence that everything has a rythmn and cycle that runs with everything else. are we really just here for shits, or is there a much deeper meaning to this reality?

I refuse to believe you pulled all those dates and numbers off the top of your head, and I also don't think you went out and researched for a thread on NS. So I'm finding it hard to believe most of that.
