End of season reflections

As the season winds down, I’m interested to hear what people have to say about the 2018/2019 season, share some new learns, crazy stories or bad crashes from this year

there was honestly mad good snow this year, and pretty much everywhere too

definitely seeing the new wave style ripple across resorts all over the world in how younger, more enthusiastic kids are skiing.

However, everyone I saw this season riding vishnus could hit triple kinks, and more or less the same with On3p with one or two exceptions.

got some new tricks for my rail game

landed cork 3s too but the season isnt over and i think i will have more stories before the season is up

Finally did 3s on a decent sized jump. Got them with safety's too. Right 3 with right hand safety looks pretty sweet I think . Also got pretty good at sliding double kinks and other wierd Z and Elbow rail type features. Last but not least got my nose butter 3s on lock , doing them floaty & slow over knuckles is mad fun and feels almost like a cork 3 close to the ground, hoping it'll help me understand how to land from a cork 3 next year .also met a lot of nice park skiers , used to never have anyone to ride out to the hill with , and vaguely knew a few other park skiers at hills. Finally got some buddies to roll out (and up if the time is right) with . 10/10 season

Felt like it was the opposite for me I saw so many kids riding on3ps who couldn’t really hit rails. Saw this one kid at my home hill with custom wood veneer on3ps and he could barely slide a rail

I agree, there are many good riders who ride ON3P and V's; however, this year especially I noticed a ton of beginner park skiers riding ON3P and Vishnu everywhere I went. There's nothing really wrong with that but it is something that is different from the past, more beginner kids are learning about how everyone loves the skis and see hype for them all over social media and want a part of it.

Hit some rails for the first time in my life, met a million awesome people, got the most days I’ve ever had in, so I’d say it was a pretty great one

yeah I agree nothing wrong with it, but it does seem like less kids are starting out with the typical "beginner park ski" and just asking their parents for oneps or Vs cuz they see them hyped up everywhere

This year I learned how fun big mountain skiing is and hiking is much more worth it to me. I feel like I progress in the park more than I used to, because I definitely skied less park and got much better than any other season. It helps a ton to be surrounded by skiers who are better than you

I finally learned some basic rail tricks with I'm suuuper stoked on. I also met a bunch of cool people who either have been or want to compete in some FWT qualifiers next season, so I'm already hyped to try my hand at competing since I've been working on my technique and been doing more of the freeride thing this season.

Solid season thus far, by far most days, Boho was great and late season Colorado once I get out there should be far better this season than last.

Every season is better than the last, because each year I get better. I'm not throwing anything crazy, too old for that, but I'm happy with how solid my skiing looks and being able to throw simple but stylish spins. Finally got some basic rail grinds this season too so I'm stoked on that. Happy to be healthy and making lots of friends after moving to a new city.

Pretty shit ngl. Built a backyard setup and got some good rail progression, but being stuck in Ontario really blows. Had a few dope trips planned, but my car managed to shit the bed before each one. Hopefully I can get down to Tuckerman’s or somewhere else in the east before shit melts.

Im 30 and have a 2 year old Daughter so I only got to go skiing once but it was a blast. I finally got new Salomon boots after having my old pair literally since 2004 that were falling apart and being held together by random screws I could find at the local tune shop. Anyway, I got to grab my CRJ's and rip around Monarch Mountain with some good stashes from the pow they got that week. I met up with some local team guys at the top of Mirkwood and threw down a nice tree run. I am definitely going to teach my daughter next year so Im stoked on that. When skiing is part of who you are, you really learn to appreciate even a one day season if only to reconnect to yourself.

I felt like was a good season although I was sick and was caught up in girls for the beginning of the season. I still got around 2 more days where I can go. I am hype because I got the peak pass for next season and have been riding big boulder a lot. I improved a lot both on jumps an rails. I got into a bad habit of stepping onto rails tho and it makes me get fucked up on high rails(Any tips).I learned blind 270s, got front 270s on lock, frost swaps, 360s on medium park jumps and 540s on small park jumps, and I have hit the biggest jumps that I have ever hit. Sad for the off season but I will be working for next season so that'll keep my mind off of it

Injuries suck. I dislocated my shoulder and thought I'd be good in two weeks, now its 2 months later and I have an appointment for an MRI and possibly surgery after that.

Other than that it was a killer season. Dialed in my rodeo 7s, had good conditions for out of the park ripping, and entered my first rail jams and did better than I was expecting

Hit my first rails at the bone zone

Major progress was skiing lines and finally dropping some bigger cliffs

Left 180s on lock, but lost nose butter 3s and haven't landed a backy or 360 yet. There is still plenty of time though and I anticipate I'll get the backflip on the wave

Taught my gf to ski way better and she now hits jumps in the mini terrain park at snowbird and rips the groomer. I love her

Overall it's a fantastic season that should get even better

I hit tucks last spring for the first time and I highly recommend going if you can. I camped out with my homie the night before we skied (we live 5 hrs from Mt Washington) and it was an amazing trip

Tried learning rails for the first time last season but only skied park 3 or 4 times so I could barely make it to the end of one. However, this season I went at least once a week and got very comfortable sliding rails. Got both way 2s out, lipslides, and 2s onto boxes! Also learned backies, nosebutter 3s, 5s, and 3s off big jumps with grabs. Altogether it was the best season I ever had and seriously can’t wait for next year!

You do realize not everyone who skis on3p is a park skier right

Very solid year in the bridjahs! Got pretty rowdy over spring break and beat myself up. Decided it was time to get a job and stop being a bum so I can enjoy backpacking season.

Such a good year as far as progression for me. I got flat 3s, rodeo 5s, added grabs up to 7 on spins, switch 3s for jumps. On rails i got every fed, both 2 on 2 out, and switch rails. Everyday in February was a pow day, got more days than I ever have before, and had some slushy park days. Hell, looking back on it, this was the best season of my life.

Hope some of yawl head down to Kiwiland or Aussieland to continue the stoke. Here's hoping that the southern hemi season is as fire as the northern.

I live about 9 hrs away, so I'm defs gonna camp. Hopefully my fucking truck doesn't take a giant shit right before.

Didn't get to ski last year, finally got some days in this year. Less than 10 but still happy. Threw some of the biggest frontflips I have ever tried this year. Didn't get out in the backcountry as much as I had hoped, next year goals.

Skied maybe 5 times this year for myself while I wasn’t working.

Working for a ski resort sucks dick

skiing on broken old skis suck dick

this is whole new wave vs old wave debate on ns is pushing me away from this website and skiing as a whole

Cal Carson deserves a spot in SU

progressed a shit-ton

honestly feel like next year i could get some recognition off of some of the stuff i want to do

why the season gotta be so short

was ripping behind a friend on last day and there was like this roller to steep but it was really hidden and more poppy than you would believe so I didn't know it was there until I hit it and was taken off guard and I literally did a rodeo 5 of this thing and skied switch to the bottom where I slammed my head when I got to flat here's a quick video of ya boi where it was

Yeah I’m just saying I saw a lot of kids in the park who had on3ps but weren’t very good at rails lol

all i saw was a sketchy spread eagle

So hyped on this season, gotta a couple more things left but it’s 90% done.

Biggest highlights for me

-skiing PC and Brighton in same day. So much Fun

-getting into the streets more than ever. Walked away with only 8 clips, but I’m still stoked

-landing my first k fed

Upcoming: Kimbo sessions & Windells session1

What I will remember from the 2018-19 season:

1. So many people everywhere. Most cant drive on a highway either.

2. Started the season with a bang, then faded and got very cold. It was crazy windy too.

3. Hiked the most mileage in one season. Also suffered too many overuse injuries. Thanks ACL for swelling up on last pow day.

4. Finally won a freeride event I have attended for 5 years and sat on the podium 3 times.

5. Ticked a lot of items on my season and life list.

6. Glory happened in bunches; 3 day burst of life changing runs and jumps, then a week or two of waiting for the right conditions

7. Expensive as fuck this year. New car, beacon, gear...

This is another season to remember fondly. Now my poor, depleted, crackhead looking body needs a break and I need money.
