End my drinking dispute.

My roommates and i are talking about drink at a party and drinking just at the house.
The argument is between if you get drunk faster at a party or just sitting at home chillin.
Personally i think its at a party! At home chillin i drink like i am a champ. but...When i got to parties i get fucked up... QUICKLY!
they all think they can drink more at parties.. what about you guys?

social encouragement probably does factor into it

does your physical capacity to consume more alcohol change? durrrrrrr no. but you have more motivation to drink like a champ when you're around a bunch of people

when you are in a uncomfortable situation you tend to do automatic reflexes more frequently. This includes drinking fluids. So you may not be chugging at the party but you will be taking small sips much more frequently then if you were at your house.

Drinking jokes!!!!

I consider myself a social drinker. When someone says they will have a drink i say "so-shall I!"

I agree capacity never changes (other than food consumption and all that jazz) BUt at home i dink care free with no one pushing me to take bong rips... so at home i drink TYPICALLY like 6 beers and hour. and i am perfect... but if i am 6 beers deep at a party and everyone else if acting lose. i am typically going to act lose with them, i think its a matter of letting my guard down.

you prob drink more faster at a party. just because you maybe playing beer pong or something and youll be drinking the cups the opponent makes and probably sippin on something else. i just think you may drink more an hour at a party than drinking more at home just chilling

i honestly think it hits me harder at home alone. i could have a glass and feel a little goofy. try and talk to someone i haven't talked to online or say something i wouldn't normally. but at a party i'm more reserved and composed.

either, it all depends on how much and what you are drinking.

Setting doesn't matter unless the social interactions at a party cause you to consume alcohol faster.

For me it all depends on if I'm trying to get drunk fast, just chillin, just having a beer here and there.

If my mission is to get drunk, I will get fucking drunk regardless of the setting

same, there are times though (more often than not) where my intent is to not drink too much, then at one point I say fuck it and start pounding solo cup after solo cup. Then I usually regret how I feel the next day.

The only time it really effects me is if I'm planning on not drinking a lot, then being at a party, holding down a pong table all night, starts to get be drunk regardless. I don't really go to parties when I intend not to drink, that's a terrible idea anyway.

I really need to start rocking the water, I only do it when it's way to late. When you really should start pounding water, you're at that point where fuck pounding water. Then you end up throwing up, pounding water, repeat, and eventually being gold. But you could save yourself by making the switch at the right time.

your environment has nothing to do with how fast you get drunk. sure, you may be drinking more drinks quicker at a party, but you could drink just as much at home and be the same way. Or, you could be just chillin at a party... the environment is what changes your rate of consumption I think is what you mean

when you're just chilling at home it's quite safe, but usually it turns into one or another drinking game, and nothing gets you drunk faster....

It is inevitable that any night you plan on not drinking too much, you are a beirut god. (yea I'm from MA, beer pong is played with paddles) Hours go by without losing a game, and you get tanked. But had you set out to get completely smashed, you probably wouldn't have sunk a single cup.

I feel like this thread = you got hammered at a party off of a couple of smirnoff ices, looked like a lightweight pussy in front of your bros and some chicks, puked, blacked out, at some point pulled out your wiener without an invitation, and that this little debate was your way of justifying the fact that you can't hold your booze so that your friends don't clown you.
I'm not buying, and I doubt your friends are either.

my two cents:
it depends on the type of party. i find that when i get to a party i will basically drink until i feel really good then i often forget to drink more and just have fun. this usually happens at parties where there is a lot going on. however, at a party where the theme is beer bongs and drinking games, then the opposite happens.
i think on average though you will drink more when you go out then when you stay in, but the circumstances can change it all.

uh no dude. did you read the post?
I think you definitely feel drunk quicker at parties than around a fire/chillin at home. I might be because you are moving around and your metabolism is higher. More likely than that though is you just realize you are drunk because you are doing more than sitting and talking.

No way man, its the opposite for me. If im in a strange place it turns into some sort of adventure. (referring to getting high)

haha not so much depression but when im at a party im talking walking around, smoking cigarettes like a fiend blah blah blah when at home there are no distractions.
