Not as in emo or scene songs, but songs that personally make you want to cry/laugh/ or invoke some strong emotional and personal response. you can tell the story behind them if you want.

mine are

Leaving on a jet plane

terence jay - one blood. just reminds me of my good friends and all the good times

let's hear em

over the rainbow/what a wonderful world - israel kamikawiwo'ole (sp?)

that song makes me so happy when i hear it. esp in the rice krispies commercials and finding forrester

horrified nights by swollen members makes me want to kill someone, seriously though theres a bunch of music that makes me mellow like go to sleep by radiohead and theres some music that my dad used to listen to before he died of cancer that makes me sad but happy

not lame at all in my opinion. these seem like all good songs, but are there any for any of you that are really personal. EX. almost everyone gets sad listening to Tears in Heaven, but maybe there is someone who gets sad listening to jingle bells or something i dunno. i'm just curious.

and the song you're^ thinking of is last kiss by pearl jam

send me on my way-rusted root (i think thats the name) song makes me way happy

sunday bloody sunday-u2

dance with the devil-immortal technique obviously

ohh ahh or whatever its called by the grits

no i guess not but a lot of people are saying "these songs are kinda gay" or "i know i'm lame" and such things

Rest In Pieces- Saliva

I Miss You- Incubus

Breaking The Habit- Linkin Park

I just had a breakup... kinda explains the songs.

ti what you know.

not kidding, whenever i hear that song, its like i'm back at this kids house playing pong. good times.

"One Tin Soldier" fo sho. I think Joan Baez sang it. And "Shura no Hana" (the flower of carnage) by Meiko Kaji is saddening especially if you understand the lyrics. Joni Mitchell also wrote many sad or bittersweet songs. 60s folk/pop/rock singers and bands are definitely not guilty music, at least not for me!

A lot of the heavier hardcore and death metal can evoke anger and pity, more so if you understand the lyrics.

many songs by Folsom, Go It Alone, Hatebreed, and Fight like hell are good angry songs

Amon Amarth's The Avenger and Children of Bodom's stuff

Hypocrisy's "A Thousand Lies" has a lot of meaning for me... but most people wouldn't find it particularly emotional

WildSide by Motley Crue makes me want to strike someone directly in the back of the head with a baseball bat!

death cab for cutie: i will follow you into the dark

Tamia: officially missing you(i dunno this song just reminds me a lot of things in the past)

The fray: how to save a life(this is just sad and nice at the same time. if you listen to the lyrics its sad)

Snow Patrol: chasing cars(boyfriend started singing it softly to me one time and it was just so sweet that i started crying haha

these days - jackson browne

jolene - ray lamontagne

wish you were here - pink floyd

fire and rain - james taylor

your hand in mine - explosions in the sky

mansion on the hill - bruce springsteen

lights of cheyenne - james mcmurty

landslide - fleetwood mac

la cienega just smiled - ryan adams

indian sunset - elton john

I'm weird with music. Theres certain songs that remind me of certain moments in my life. Like the shins remind me of the first serious girlfriend I had. Other songs usually remind me of bad breakups or good sex with a chick.

A heart in New York - simon and garfunkel

i was listening to this song on my ipod walking around NYC and central park on a beautiful day. this trip was especially memorable since i sang one of the most emotional pieces of choral music at carnegie hall with two other choirs, and we were the top three choirs in the nation at that point. plus i met my first serious girlfriend on a boat in NYC on that trip looking at the statue of liberty. this was also spring of my senior year in hs. so ya basically this song brings me back to what i would consider the highpoint of my life thus far. now i live 2000 miles away from all those people and memories i have with them in the name of skiing!

death cab = passenger seat

pink floyd = echoes, wish you were here, etc

these songs just "touch" me

as for good times,

DMB = Stay, or any Dave

wonderwall by Oaisis and Forever young, both played at my buddies funeral, both sung at the top of our voices when the team gets together, both with big impact. There are lots of songs that invoke certain memories, both good and bad, but im drawing a blank right now.
