all these kids who were the abercrombie poster children all of the sudden are now like these fucking emo kids. emo is like the new trend. 'yay lets be all sad' i don't mind emo, its good in small doses. but i'm so sick of people trying to think they are new and original by wearing 'coheed and cambria', 'the early november', 'yellowcard', 'taking back sunday' and 'finch' t-shirts every day. AHHH! i mean thats cool of they are into it but sooooo many people are just being trend whores.

I will admit I am a big emo kid, in ways. I really like emo, I dress like whatever you want to call it, but I don't write poetry, and I don't cry about everything. And who the hell cares what people listen too, or dress like, this has to be the 3rd thread about emo, and everyone should leave it alone.

I haven't changed my signature in quite some time, so I will change it. Here it is.
 
theres just certain music that drives me nuts like good charlotte and simple plan, i hate them but the way i see it is music is music, doesnt matter if its coming from spoons and forks or from a guitar, bass and drums or even from your mouth

im liking emo more and more these days. IM not an emo kid though. THe music is really good though like taking back sunday and brand new. Both of those bands are awesome.

Some stuff I enjoy but other emo really makes me want to stab someone. Some of it is too whiney. Give me Give Up The Ghost any day. They've got the awesome but still emo rooted lyrics, and then they still have good music and even a few great break downs!

theres two types of music, shitty and not shitty. i tend to think a lot of bands labeled as emo are shitty, but im a huge sucker for Elliott Smith when im in the mood

real, original emo was good. this new emo shit sucks. go bawl your damn eyes out you bitches. check out Fugazi. that is real emo. emo is (well, was) short for emotional HARDCORE. when Ian Mcay (sp?) left Minor Threat (one of the greatest hardcore punk outfits of all time and the greatest dc hardcore band ever) and started fugazi, he wrote about deep stuff, but wrote hardcore music. emo used to be a way to make fun of his music, but it was still recoginized as a facet of hardcore punk. it is no longer a facet, but a disgrace. i spit on you emo children

I just can't stand when a new type of music is 'discovered' by the masses, and then record labels go out and sign all these shitty bands who are just ripping off the originators. For example when Grunge 'broke' all these crappy Nirvana wannabes like Candlebox started popping up everywhere, and then last year when Garage rock was back in again labels were trying to find the next White Stripes and the Strokes, and these terrible bands are everywhere. Back to emo though, I don't know why bands have to be grouped into it, in the early 90's bands like Sunny Day,Superchunk, Dino Jr., Pavement, Modest Mouse were just called indie or underground rock, why are some of them now unjustly labeled emo? When I hear emo I think of Dashboard Confessional, not modest mouse. any thoughts?

 
Emo isn't really, it's just recently became the new uncool kind of cool. I have to put that uncool there because the 'real' kind of cool is all that ghetto gangster crap. Suddenly everyone's acting emo and acting like they're the only ones. Every has to read teh book 'speak' and think it's the coolest book ever, and everyone has to listen to brand new and starting line and home grown and yellowcard and fallout boy and spitalfield. Damn, and they say music doesn't instigate violence. I mean, saves the day makes me really wanna kill saves the day (ripped that off tough crowd, but who cares). I think emo kids cry because their music sux so much, nto because they're sad. Wow, i think that has to go in my profile....

that is not true. there are a ton of talented emo singers that dont sing super high at all ....then there are those that are super talented and can sing high, low, and scream great.

i think emo can be split into two distinct branches.

#1-Mesh hat emo. The kind of emo that mid teen girls like to jump around too.

#2-Emo. I couldn't think of a clever name, but the kind that's what the name actually used to stand for (someone talked about minor threat and fugazi, pretty much what that kid was talking about).

While i must admit i occasionally crank up an All-American rejects song, i recognize this is cleary a cheesy faux-emo tpye #1 band. Now what pisses me off, is when people only recognize the mesh hat type. I think if you're going to dance around and attract older men with your low cut jean and tight tops, you should be required to take a class called 'music that doesn't suck 101'. Hmm, i dont really know where i was going with that, but basically i think anyone that only acknowledges the mesh hat type is a poser in the way that a kid who wear his DVS shoes and eS shirt to school every day, but knows nothing about skating at all is a poser. So yeah, those kids piss me off.

 
all my friend listen to emo and thats it. I cant stand it I need a little some thing different in music instead of the same sound every day. I like emo but not that much.

2 weeks ago I went to Outdoor school Camp with my grade.My teacher was in a Field talking to his Girlfriend at 11:30 pm, my friend and I were suspicious so we flashed a flaslight in the eyes of my teacher and they were closed. Art is subjective, music is art.... you can't argue it. You can say it sucks, but that means nothing.

In my opinion, some emo is shite, and some is good.... I hate all the new All-American, Saves the Day, Dashboard, etc.... but occasionally I like some emo, grant you I hate to admit it cause my g/f calls me a 'fag'....

I understand why people listen to it. It's emotional. When I was a teenager I wanted music that 'pulled at my heartstrings' hahaha, so it's understandable.

I like the dark cynical lyrics, that some bands have, a lot of self relations to the lyrics. Saves the Day and taking back sunday are good examples, although not musically complex, it's good to keep it simple. I will admit that it does sound like whining to some, but not everyone can sing like everyone else, you do what you can and what expresses your lyrics best. A lot of the rage and pain in the songs is obviously inspired by the opposite sex, You can't get mad and beer and weed because they are always there for you, but girls you can be mad at,just like hash they are so good to you sometimes, and other times so hard to find because someone else has the good ones.I like good bands that can show the both sexes pains. I'm not really too into the culture behind the 'emo' that modern society has taged on some music. Not into the dress, or sad all the time cause it's cool. Just smoke a bowl and be happy.
