You can't aruge that eminem has a talent. His lyrics are colourful, his flow is solid, and his music is just good. On top of all that, he markets himself extremely well. The old adage 'any publicity is good publicity' holds itself especially true for Eminem because he's made himself a controversial figure.

I am questioning, do you think that Eminem only became successful because at the same time he was breaking into the hip hop scene, hip hop music was breaking into the mainstream? In the early 90's most white people were into grunge or alternative music and hip hop music was shunned by these same people. Had Eminem broke into the scene then, do you think he would have been accepted?

I think there is going to be many opinions on this, the way I look at it is like this. Vanila Ice was white and he had his thing back then except he was a fag, I think Dr.Dre would of signed him back then if he was grown up and developed enough to hold his own.

Jay, I don't think that he would have been as famous or monetarily successful as he is now if hip-hop hadn't been going mainstream. But I don't think there's any doubt that he had to earn his respect in the hip-hop world before he could go anywhere.

I hate people that say he has no talent, thats just being gay.. His lyrics are sicker than most of the people out there.. Download and look at the lyrics for 'still don't give a fuck' or 'anyman' and you'll see for yourself.. Lyrically he is better than most anyone else I have listened to to.. It takes talent to write tha much shit for one song.. Bands like franz ferdinand have no talent, they just constantly repeat tehir lyrics in each song, it still sounds good but it's boring

There's no way he would be as popular; he's a novelty and gets the media attention that he does and the adoration from white fans because he's white. Subconsciously or not, white kids are ecstatic to see a white rapper because then they don't feel marginalized by black rappers. They see themselves in eminem- he's the proof for all white kids that it's okay for them to like rap and dress like black people.

I pretty much hate rap in all forms, so as an unbiased observer, I can say that there are less successful rappers than him with much more talent, not to say that he isn't talented.

I guess his whiteness has made him a bit more of a novelty than other rappers, but I honestly believe that if he were black, he'd still be at the top because I think that his lyrics and style are head and shoulders above anyone else right now. No one raps like Eminem raps.

eminem brings it harder than all you motherfuckers combined. he's a lyrical genius, an amazing showman, a smart businessman, a clever promoter, a solid actor, and one hell of a father on top of all his other accomplishments. plus, the guy gets more respect from the rest of the black (and white) music and entertainment industry than just about any other celebrity out there.

yeah it sucks that alot of his shit becomes so commercial that you see 12 year old teenie boppers worshipping him, but what do you expect from one of the most amazing people of our generation. don't hate the player, hate the motherfuckers that annoy you by worshipping the player for the wrong reasons

I'm not a huge Eminem fan (I'm actually pretty indifferent about his music), but I do agree that he's an extraordinary person. If I could meet one famous person, I think it would be him. He's so intersting, really smart, and I'm hard pressed to think of an entertainer who has ever been able to promote themselves nearly as well Eminem.
