Basically cutting off any connection to your parents. Legally having the rights of an adult before you turn 18. They no longer have to take care of you and you're on your own for bills, school, and housing.
 
why would you want to do that?! home = free shit. if you're having a tough time with the parents, deal with it, because everybody does. only sissies crap out.
 
nope, not once in my life have i ever thought about it. I love my parents, and I could never have brought myself to leave them before now, even now, i couldn't do it.

i have thought of going to live with my dad, but then i thought to myself, "who the fuck wants to live in toronto?"
 
milk it as long as you can, you have your entire life to pay your own way and doing it through college isn't adviseable. Suck it up and deal with them, I too wanted to move out when I was 16-17 but in all reality, looking back, enjoy it while you can.
 
Because my dad is a douche and my mom turns her cheek to it and puts up with his shit. Hes told me to leave and has kicked me out a few times, but always chases me down and makes me come home. Im sick of it and Ive bascially been providing my own shit for the last year or so and I know I could live on my own or move in with my boyfriend. Im just really frustrated with the whole thing. Im not a pussy for crapping out, and Im not giving up, Im just thinking that it might be the better alternative than sitting around waiting for him to shit a brick and act like a five year old over something stupid.
 
Well whatever, life is much easier at home finacially, it will be harder than you probably think it will be, in the end you'll probably just end up coming back home. Don't rush to grow up, you have your whole life, 16-18 was probably the easiest my life has ever been, lots of freedom, don't need to work your ass off. I don't know, everyone is always rushing to grow up when it's not all that great. (unless of course you are speaking of my life specifically which happens to kick a lot of ass)
 
Becky aren't you college age? I am thinking of a thread by some girl on here in recent history about a girl and a distant boyfriend and the couple were college age...I thought it was you but I guess I am wrong.
 
i don't know about you but even though i have gained a lot of freedom, I'm working harder than i ever have getting grades for college and shit. highschool sucks.
 
and to becky, have you ever tried getting help form an outside source like a family friend or something? i have friends who have had your problem and that has worked.
 
shit man wait for college. More freedom than ever before, tonas of fun, but if your a slow worker your going to miss it all while your chilling in the library.
 
wh ywould you want to get imancipated. how else would you get some money for all the ski stuff you need, and free food. plus if you got imancipated you couldnt act immature anymore cause you would have to be all smart to make it in the world alone
 
WTF? I was talking about emancipation today in social. We learned about the emancipation of the serfs by some Tsar Nicholas guy..............
 
You know, I am going to go against the norms on this one. I'd say move out, try it out. You never know, it could be a bad move and you may end up going back, but I am a firm believer in trusting your instincts, and if moving out is your instinct then follow through. Just be prepared for a shitload of work.
 
I know two people who did the whole emancipation thing.

The first girl we'll call sara. She didn't like that her parents ahd so many rules and wouldn't let her go out late at night. So she left home, she lasted no more than a week at a frieds house before it got awkward and then tried to go live with her aunt. The aunt eventually sent her back home.

Then there's the second girl, we'll call her nicole. She left for good. I don't know why, but she had had enough. She never went back home and now she totally uneducated and lives in a dump of an apartement in one of the sketchiest neighbourhoods in town. She spends the bulk of her welfare check on cocaine and heroine and has no future. I haven't seen her in over 2 years and suspect she likely whores herself out the th sketch bags in her neighbourhood to pay the bills.

If I were you I'd stay at home. Maybe when you are old enough you can go off on your own to college, but honestly don't fuck the rest of your life up because your dad wants you home at 10 pm.
 
depends on your financial aid for college. could you soak up the debt your parents would drop on you, and would you FA plan change cause youd be making a hell of a lot less than your family as a whole does? if paying off college isnt sucha big deal, then im gonna say go for it.
 
My friend did it from his mom, then she tried to have him arrested but she didn't have charges. His mom was coked out, kinda weird.

But his dad is really rich and they are close so he gets a lot of aid from him, soooo depends on the situation.
 
I have told other fucked up ppl to do it, but i have no reason too, my parents are really cool
 
i emancipated my dad when i was 14, hes a douche w. anger problems, hes been married 5 times and was a bitch to my mom and never really cared about me (moved back to russia a few years ago)
