Admitted to being involved in a prostitution ring.

(CNN) -- The New York Times on Monday reported that Gov. Eliot Spitzer has told senior administration officials that he was involved in a prostitution ring.

The paper's Web site cited an anonymous administration official and said the New York governor was meeting with his top aides and would be making a statement this afternoon.

"To say this is a shock is an understatement," said CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, who went to law school with Spitzer.

Spitzer served as New York's attorney general for eight years before being elected governor.

Time magazine named him "Crusader of the Year" during his two terms as New York attorney general.

Tabloids labeled him "Eliot Ness," after the hero in the crime drama "The Untouchables," because of his reputation for rooting out corruption, busting white-collar criminals and tackling organized crime.

He was also known for prosecuting several prostitution rings.

He also worked as an assistant district attorney in Manhattan and worked for three New York law firms after receiving his law degree from Harvard.

The first-term Democrat had been considered a rising star among his party.

Spitzer is married and has three daughters.

whats even funnier about this is the fact that he broke up multiple prostitution rings when he was AG. i cant stand dealing with this guy and most of all, i cant stand his "holier than thou" attitude and the fact that he hasnt done shit for NYS but put us deeper in the hole. good riddance ya fucker.
 
i bet if he walked in my school, about 95% of kids wouldn't know who he is. that's not a good thing when you're the govenor of new york. just to be fair, i haven't done any research about what he's done in his years in office, but all i hear is negative things.

i somewhat agree, but when guliani was in office, even before 9/11, almost everyone followed what he did and would recognize him instantly.

Um i don't know what you guys are talking about, but I've never heard anything bad about the guy at all. He COMPLETELY fucked up, but it's sad really because I thought he had potential to distinguish himself as a great governor. That said, this scandal is nuts and totally ruinous for him.
 
i'm fron new york and its great to see this democrat who thought he was the shit just fall and crumble. even though it sort of embarassing for our state in a way. this guy was preaching change and with his past job, he went after so many criminals. and look at him now. what will they think of next?

i took one of those political test in goverment last year and i was placed slighty to the right. i guess conserative with some liberal views.
 
wow. really? nothing bad? no offense but do you live in NY? no one likes him...for what i thought were obvious reasons. his approval rating as of januaray 20th or so was around 35%. god knows what its going to be now.

i cant wait to see what the stock market does because of this. wall street guys are throwing copious parties as we speak
 
hmm, NY is so divided, its hard to be a govenor. He was elected with something like 68% or something, did you get to vote?!??!?
 
my town in extremelly liberal (ithaca) and he was generally quite well liked here (until now). I'm not very knowledgeable about him but the demographics of my town probably have to do with why I've heard lots of good stuff about him

I forget which late night talk show I saw, but they did a great comparison of politicians who fucked up and their lip biting.

They showed Bill Clinton slightly biting, NJ gov. jim Mcgreevy chewing his lip, and then Spitzer trying to swallow his face. It was hilarious, probably the daily show or something.

The only reason they followed up on this shit is because he was not a friend to Wall Street. So a bank analyses his transactions and finds a few thousand dollars that were transfered elsewhere for removal. Seriously, this man is a rich fucker and they launch an investigation on a handful of sub $5000 transactions. When a transfer is greater than $5000 they are supposed to flag it, but not if its less. They're going to say he broke it into smaller transactions to hide it, but he was just spending the money on some pussy as he needed it. Fuck, he was marked.
 
I realize he is a governor which is sort of a bigger deal, but the mayor of Detroit has been caught doing waaaay worse shit. I guess a few years ago he allegedly had some stripper killed because she gave information about some party at the mayors house. Plus he's been caught cheating on his wife multiple times, he buys stuff like Lincoln Navigators with the taxpayers money. He sucks. Then on the news the dumbasses in Detroit said they'd probably vote for him again.
 
well it isnt really the caught with a hooker thing that makes spitzer story interesting. it is his holier then thou attitude and the which hunts he went on against other people thier companies and what they were doing. all a while he is paying 4dimes a bang.

but who can forget marion barry. got caught doing crack as mayor of dc then got re-elected haha. how are you supposed to tell kids not to do drugs "better not do drugs cause if you do you never be anything" "i could be mayor"
