Elan Skis

No good pros ride them, so they get no media attention. Have heard they are not too bad, but their graffics are kinda ugly.

one of the kids I ski with just got picked up by them, he hasn't ridden them yet, but ELAN makes some of the best race skis out there, so the quality of the ski should be excellent. The pinball looks to be their best park ski, and the specs seem pretty good. I don't know anything other than that, sorry.

if they're free what does it matter, the pinballs would probably be the best choice for park. I'm sure they're good, the only thing I'm not sure on if flex, but I'd assume they'd be on the stiffer side coming from a company that mainly focuses on race skis.

ya well I have more choices like:

the k2 extreme

dynastar 6th sence BIG

any armada

any line

what you guys think i should get?

the point it it's being made like a skateboard was to make it durable. think about it, skateboards gets constantly thrashed on all day and dont break. that's a lie, they do break

but they take A LOT of abuse. Skateboards are one of the most respected constructions in all of action sports (I hate that phrase but it's better than "extreme sports"), think about what skaters do with them - numerous handrails and massive stair sets - those things take a beating, which is why Line made a ski based off of it. I still think they need to prove themselves (the skis - not line) to the masses before I'll trust them fully, but from the sound of it so far, they're going to pass.
If you can get any ski from Line or Armada think about Anthems, AR6s or Alpha 2s also, they are all sick skis. But, Elan should be good too.

dude, i'm pretty sure that the abangs are going to be durable, thats what they built them for, but from a price perspective, buy the alpha 2's or ar6's they are the most expensive of the bunch (or ARG's)

I have Elan Mag 8 skis. They tear it up in the midwest and skate across all the ice we have to offer and allow for mega carving.

The integrated binding system is widely agreed upon to suck. Their park skis are supposed to be pretty decent I hear though.

Elan makes quality stuff though. If a ski says Made in Slovenia, it was made by Elan. Maybe designed by someone else though.

I rode this years puzzle most of last season and I love em'. Going to those from invaders was like Brian O'Connor getting NOS happy. Honestly they were on the stiff side the first few days I rode them but they break in REAL nice.

Graphic is pretty sick too.

took me a second to figure out what you were talking about, nice analogy for going fast as hell though.

I also just got on the elan puzzles at the end of last season and for the little bit that I rode them I really liked them. They were poppy and more responsive than my liberty phil larose's. I could agree that the artwork on them isn't that stellar but it also isn't awful, i've seen worse. I might be biased towards Elan's, but I'd seriously consider giving them a shot, especially if they're free... that's what I'm doing. Elan has been around for a long time making skis and knows how to make a good quality ski and they are also a company that is willing to take chances with new technology. They do all their own R&D because skis are the only thing they make... they know their shit.

Elan are seriously sick skis, so underrated. IF they got their graphics, marketing and team right they would be a big player int he industry for sure. I rode the 05/06 MO2 because it was free from my shop. Honestly I would never have even looked at them, the same as most people but they were sick skis. Flex was so even and just right for park, they held up better than some skis I've used and they came in a 185. I think the Puzzle is the same as that ski, if I saw them at a good price I'd buy them and paint them.

DO THIS: get the most expensive ski you can from you choice ( most likely the Aramda ARG) sell the hell out of them for brand new to some tourist who will pay above msrp and then use the money to buy the absolute perfect ski for you and use the spair money (most likley will have some) to purchase some bindings.

Elan skis are bomber, definitely some of the best on the market, there is a reason 4frnt is using some of Elans molds this year.
