El Clásico

just get it over with.

I'd like to be able to read football sites with more than just "messi vs ronaldo!"

I hope it ends 0-0.

Can't wait....this years is going to be incredibly heated with Mourinho at Madrid.

Oooooooeeeeeee

I dont really have a preference for either club...

I just think Ronaldo's the biggest faggot gayboy on the planet, and he plays like it too...

Much more respect for messi, who's like 5'nothing and plays like he's 50'everything..

Regardless... I'll stick to watching Newcastle deny Chelski at every chance it gets this season.

Barca is putting on a clinic. They really can make any team look average when they're on. A few more scoring chances and some more beef will make this game blow up.

haha jose mourinho, you crazy bastard.

as much as i dislike barca from last summer, i think i dislike jose more, so this is good.

620 million people watched the game.. You heard it: 620 000 000 people.

Football is indeed the most popular sport in the world.

I just re-watched the match. And even as a neutral it was very difficult to see a side of Madrid's caliber get so embarrassed. Mourinho made a mistake taking Ozil off, it should have been Di Maria instead, he and Benzema are garbage.
Still, full credit to Barca. They've really been the best club side in world football over the past few years. Only Chelsea and Inter under Mourinho have managed to show them up.

I don't understand whats up with benzema. Used to watch him all the time with OL, always watch him with France, and sometimes watch now...but he's a completely different player with madrid than he was with lyon, or still is with France.

He's got the talent and ability, but for some reason spain just doesn't suit him. I think a striker of his size would do alright in england actually.

I haven't seen much of Benzema but there's a huge gap in quality from Ligue 1 to La Liga. I think teams tend to defend deeper in Spain too. He wasn't hungry at all against Barca, neither were Di Maria or Ronaldo but he had a spot to win.

Real Madrid played it all wrong, Mourinho's little line up experiment didn't work -- Real gave Barcelona way to much respect and time on the ball. With players like Xavi, Iniesta, and Lionel, you are going to get punished for it. I think it just goes to show on any given day one team can be better. Also gotta remember this was at Barca's home.

its soccer bro! what statium was the world cup final held in? thats right, SOCCER city stadiam.
and btw check yourself before you wreck yourself. the sport was invented as soccer, but it was later changed.

yea, it's definitely different. Ligue 1 is confusing. They dont have certain qualities to all teams like most other leagues do. Instead you get teams that defend and counter attack like none other, and teams capable of all out 90 minute attacks. No defining tactics across the league though. Could explain why at the moment, 10 points separate first, and 16th.

Blanc seems to play France in a method similar to how a lot of english teams operate (which makes sense since he played at man utd for awhile and might be copying fergie) and benzema has done extremely well in it. I think he's scored 3 in the last 4 matches, which internationally, isn't half bad.

Piss off BRO! If the US do get the World Cup all the English, Dutch, South American and Eastern Euro hooligans are going to have a laugh cunting all you plastics.

What's wrong with the U.S. holding the Cup? Pretty sure England is sucking and swallowing right now.. Plus the U.S. has one of the most diverse array of people in the world. Soccer is blooming in the states

That's because it was held in South Africa, which, like the USA, Canada, and Australia, calls it soccer much of the time...
The name never changed... The sport was never called soccer first - it was always football. Look at the football codes that rose out during the 19th century. You wont find ONE that has 'soccer' in the name. There is no 'S' in FIFA. There is no 'S' in FA, there is no club in england that I know of that is called "-random city- SOCCER club... it's either Athletic Club, or Football Club, or something of that sort.
There are only a few places in the world where Association Football is known as soccer... and they are all places where another form of football code (American Football, Canadian football, Aussie Rules, or in South Africa, they use "Soccer" just as often as "Football" depending on where in the country you are...) that is either more popular, or just as popular as Football. Even Kiwis for the most part call it Football...
Learn how to spell stadium by the way. You misspelled that shit TWICE. I normally wouldnt call you out on that, but thats pretty awful... You just wrecked yourself yo.

it was called football when it began, then some years later, football and soccer became interchangeably used so as to avoid confusion, because rugby at the time was called rugby football, or often just football.

Believed to come from the need the english always have to shorten words/names

Soccer games from asSOCiation football. They took 3 letters, add cer, and it was good enough for them.

If you watch video of the english first division in the 30s, they often call it soccer. Then for whatever reason, after the 50s, it became solely football, and many english fans became pretentious douches that forgot that their country created and applied the name soccer to the sport in the first place.
