More than any other extreme sports athlete, she has to stay vanilla in order to appease China. It's a bummer - she's clearly American, but the insane earning potential and influence overseas is undeniable. She's setting herself up for generational wealth, knowingly supporting a country that commits humanitarian crimes. It's a tough choice, but at the end of the day she is raising the profile of skiing globally. She's clearly smart and knows what she's doing. I'm interested to see how her story evolves as she grows older..
Someone made a thread about seeing Eileen Gu at Hyland and how rude she was as if she was too cool to talk to anyone. Hunter Hess and AHall were there the same day and was more than happy to have a convo with the person who wrote the thread. She puts up this whole facade of being a "voice" and it really bothers me. Yes she's a great athlete, but she's also a corporate bot.
