Pretty much. We have the Southern Cross on our flag, and you can see it in the sky on a clear night. I don't know anything about astronomy though, but heres what it looks like.

^oi! Its not the Australian one haha. Its more like the southern hemisphere. Its on the NZ flag and its also on the Brazilian flag, probably a bunch of others I can't think of also. You can use it to navigate on a clear night too.

though to be fair, the Australian flag has the fifth star in it
