Eff off switch ups!!

it depends on the press, if its mad pressed out and the kid that switch ups are kinda sketchy the kid with the press should win

ya really they do mad tech stuff that i could never do but the style just isn't really there. Not that I have amazing style on rails but I'm working on it

how does it take away from the trick? a trick is a trick, doesn't matter what the person has thrown in the past if they do a sweet trick its a sweet trick. presses are sick too though they'll probably get more and more popular as people get bored of the rail tricks bein done these days like switch ups. pretzels are sick too though. it's all sick cuz its all skiing!! geez.

i just watched the tricktapes stuff. good idea. i like the concept, but watching those guys on those rails is boring. all they are doing is bouncing around. i feel it is much easier to 270 onto a box and keep switching up with your momentum, than it is to 270 on and stop your momentum.

theres that one shot in btbhs were its an up flat down box and he noses the up regulars the flat and tails the down, u think people should start doing stuff more around that

snowboarders own skiers on rails for 2 reasons: the endless variety of presses they can do and the fact they can hit a rail ollie near the end and tap the end of the rail, it looks so fun

what's funny is in the past few years i've seen more and more snowboarders doing switch up type of things...

but on the actual subject at hand, i don't think it really matters....just do whatever you want and let others do whatever, if everyone stopped doing switch ups and only presses were done then it would be pretty boring. why not switch up to presses eh?

Thank you for your constuctive and well thought out remarks. They make the statement that you are really the person who should be criticized, not those who are making justifited opinions.

Personally, I like switchups because they are fun to do, and add a bit of difficulty to rails for me. I have messed around with sliding back and forward under my bindings, as well as doing mini daffies while on a rail. These are fun as well.

Rail style, like any style, is determined on a person to person basis. What I think is cool may not be the same as you, and therefore it is difficult to judge "skiing" as a whole when the personal interpretation of what skiing is factors so heavily into how a skier views the sport.

I challenge anyone who does not like a particular part of their skiing or wants to do something new to change that aspect of their own skiing, and let that creativity come from a personal level rather than doing the latest trendy grab ( truckdrivers, for example) or learning the latest style (geurilla steeze, a couple of years ago). To me, innovating for my self is far more pleasureble and rewarding than learning the lastest trendy thing in a video.

If someone does tons of switch ups and has fun skiing, cool!

If someone does tons of presses has fun skiing, cool!

just have fun! everyone has a differnt style...

theres the picture i was wanting to post

ya, skiing 270s out look much better than that guys 180s out, and his very few 270s out

i didnt see 1 pretzel unless u mean he went 270 on then 90 out the other way which doesnt even count, also that guy is a PRO, i see many ski amatuers who i feel are way sicker on rails

yea yea i hear what ur sayin and new stuff is great but do what u want -kooley might not do switch ups in that vid n still have good style but watch lucas-magoon-son tell me that ninja dont dance on rails w/ style like no othaa

but rails on snowboards are 1,000 times easier on a snow board than on skis. i say this from experience from only going snowboarding a couple times and skiing my whole life. i disagree that ski jibbing is far behind snowboarding. ski jibbing is far more technical and difficult

sorry by fakie i meant switch popping off your tails, and to the guy up there, learn what a pretzel is, you don't have to do a 270 on for the trick to be called a pretzel, when you do skierslide fs 270 out you are doing skierslide pretzel 270 out. jon kooley does good fs nose pretzels. and it surprises me that you think skiers have better 270s out than kooley, but that is your opinion.

i just think that it shouldnt be pretzel if u go on with a 90 degree turn and then 270 out the opposite way, that isnt even technical at all, especially on a rail, maybe if it was on a box, it would be a little bit more difficult, but not tech. It isnt even technical at all until u start spinning on or if u sw up on the box/rail then spin out opposite way

so true but we'll never be able to do shit compared to snowboarders.. watch bitner's seg in follow me around and you'll know whats up..
