Edward Snowden

Snowden stopped being a hero when he began to leak information relating to national security and other sensitive issues that had no relation to the spying on us citizens which nobody was aurprised about. He went to China and Russia, nations not friendly to US, and he probably gave them all the info he knew.

He was a hero. Now he is a traitor.
 
If he really was a threat he would have mysteriously disappeared or something when the story first broke a few weeks ago.
 
you should understand why he went to those countries before you open your mouth with something like that....both countries were getting tired of him being there because of how much pressure that puts on their relations with the US. Putin just put out a statement on Snowden being in Russia, you should read that.
 
You don't have anything to worry about from china or Russia, we all need each other to much (well Russia less, but having been there, there's nothing to worry about, place is a shit show
 
The fact that he's being charged with espionage is such a fucking joke.

Our government is so fucking corrupt it's ridiculous, the only thing good about america is all the great people living here. Other then that it's time for a revolution because our government needs to stop. They're not in control of the fucking world.

 
and what information, pray tell, was that? and how, exactly, is china and russia "not friendly" to the US? they have different goals in the UN, but that is the right of a sovereign nation.

He went beyond leaking domestic surveillance, when he began leaking data on foreign intelligence operations aimed at China and other nations. You do realize MSS and the FSB probably interrogated him when he sought refuge?

Also, the Russians lie in thi odd state of "freedom" where the government is close to holding all power. And the Chinese have been hacking into our military systems for years and engaging in industrial espionage. Both considered to be acts of war. The leadership is also at where Japan's was in the 1930's..

I mean you would have to be a fucking idiot to not know what the NSA has been doing the past decade. They get ALL of your correspondance, phone calls, texts, emails. THis is nothing new. They aren't scrutinizing your information or fucking saving it or using it against you. They aren't using it for much else than finding domestic terrorist threats and international threats. You're gonna be thanking your lucky stars in 20 years when they come out with piles and piles of documents of potential terror acts that were thwarted due to what the NSA does.

Again this snowdon guy is a fucking ass hat. He is selling secrets ABOUT WHERE OUR AGENTS ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Will the Chinese and Russians use it against us? Not necessarily but another country might, and that other country might have something that China or Russia wants. If they have something China or Russia wants (natural resources, oil, etc) a pretty nice trade off will be the location, operations, and goals of government agents overseas that could harm the countries with the resources that China and Russia want.

You're an uneducated boner. Do your research form your own opinion and if that is your own opinion then get the fuck out of the country and go somewhere else if you think America is so bad.

Just overheard something on the news that Snowden is now suspected of working for Chinese intelligence before going to work for Booz Allen Hamilton. There may be evidence that he got a job at the government contractor just so he could expose this and do harm to US Intelligence.

As i understand it, he took documents from his place of work, showed them to a Guardian journalist Glenn Greenwald. I assume this was to get some sort of editorial expertise over what he should reveal, to avoid endangering anyone (as in the case of Bradley Manning).

He then fled to Hong Kong, then on to Moscow where he is now being aided by wikileaks and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

In my opinion hes done the US and other countries a great service, if we've spent even 10 seconds thinking and questioning what our respective governments are doing.

He's giving away secrets that can potentially undermine US intelligence and that of allied nations which in turn will be used by nations the spying is aimed against to seek out and eliminate our spies and those of friendly nations.

I suggest everyone in this thread to read about the Chinese spying in America, and spying in general and you'll understand why Snowden isn't just a whistleblower anymore.
 
Apparently there is quite a bit of controversy swirling around this. Some people are saying this guy isn't even real, which might be true. The documents he says that he has could be fake as well. If you look at the powerpoint slides for PRISM they look pretty fake.
 
lol no, none of those nations will "eliminate our spies." want to know why all of a sudden these whistleblowers and news journalists can go missing out of thin air or mysteriously die all of a sudden? it's not other countries, why would THEY get rid of someone who could have beneficial info to them? it's our country, because it's our government that is always being exposed. look up recent reporter Michael Hastings death, he was on the side of Snowden and literally the same day as he died in a freak car accident, a report comes out releasing the information that car computers can be hacked into and controlled, shutting the driver out completely. sounds like something an IT official at the pentagon could do, right? that's our problem, we are so caught up on thinking it's always the outside enemy causing chaos and we have to worry about but no one ever stops to think what's happening from the inside out.

i do not believe in any of those or anything like them, however, when an official statement is released from DARPA (the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) themselves that states car computers can be hacked into i will believe that, no questions asked.

No they are not idiots, it could have been a double bluff.

If he was on that flight and you had missed whilst you could have been with him your newsagency would have been pretty angry with you.

Most news crews aren't alone in Russia so quite a few just split to increase the odds.
