Edits and Performance Enhancing Drugs.

I just read this article, http://johannhari.com/2008/05/06/my-experiment-with-smart-drugs/

Obviously I thought "I wonder if that could make me focus on skiing better?" focus, I find is often my problem you see, I can ski much better on rare occasions where things just work in my head, I know I'm physically capable of being a better skier there is a solid theory there that drugs like this could make a skier like me much better. So I continued in my head "i could try it and film a wee edit or something" "Would that be cheating? yeh. na, you can't cheat who drug tests your fucking edit. who needs to though? you know you cheated."

I decided I couldn't film an edit on a drug like this if it worked how i imagined it could. I'm probably never going to take it at all. I'm never going to take steroids either but what if i did? would it be unethical? Do you think it would actually be cheating, seeing as I don't ski comps? How would you feel if you found out skiers we watch in edits take drugs to help them ski better - either by enhancing their mental or physical ability?

This article has got me thinking.

I'm willing to bet a fair amount already do this. Not with the drugs you are referring to though.

This remind anyone of Limitless? I could imagine Bobby sweating and puking, trying to find the next pill so he doesn't die horribly, and ends up in a big wall street scandal with Robert De Niro and nearly gets killed by gangsters in Keystone and then at the end of X Games tells De Niro to get out of his slopestyle course and then bamalam, he's taking the pills again.

Watch Limitless, you'll get it

The pills are similar to the ones in limitless. If you read peoples first hand accounts of taking them they relate the feeling to what you see in the movie but not quite to the extreme of limitless. Its pretty interesting stuff to check out actually.

Its called a COCK-TAIL in the skiing world.

1 40oz malt liquor

1 adderall (crushed)

10 grams of Kratom

5 Spliffs rolled, lit, and then dropped into the 40

Win the X-Games.

certain drugs definitely improve some peoples skiing. Acid, mdma, and dexirine have all made me feel more focused and confident in my skiing. maybe a bit less focus with mdma, but it just feels fucking awesome, especially in pow. Acid and dexis though really put me in the zone, they let me quite down everything else in my head and really think only about skiing. With that being said i can see nootropic drugs having merit in skiing. Ive tried some of them before, and a lot of them dont really do anything, but im sure if you found one that works for you it could be pretty beneficial to your skiing

What you are saying might be a joke but if you consider that some of these drugs are used to treat ADHD and then how many of the most insanely good skiers in the world seem to show signs of having that disorder. Its not unlikely that tanner has taken adderall or ritalin everyday since he was a young boy.

haha well i guess i should have said a low dose...no taking 6 hits of acid will not make you a better skier, but i find taking like half a hit or maybe a full one really puts me in the zone

Acid makes me kill it as well. I don't even have to think about skiing on it my body just does it, and I always luck out when it seems like im gonna eat shit hard.

Funny thing is, I think we all know there are far more skiers taking drugs than not. Olympic-dreaming-comp-jocks are an exception, drug tests don't pass themselves...

Drugs add to the skiing experience in so many ways, why not take some? Just don't take ones you can' handle your shit with, that's when it gets dangerous.
