Anyone know of any good tutorial videos on youtube of someone editing their whole movie and taping it to see how its done?

I love filming and taking photos but when it comes to editing a video i have a really hard time with it. right now i have premiere pro and after effects. I was wondering if maybe you guys or knew of someone that had a video of their screen while they did their whole edit?

I know its asking a lot cause it would probably really long but if you do let me know! or just any really good tutorial videos would be awesome thanks!

Just start with a song and just throw clips in, maybe try to sync landings with the music and stuff... Keep it basic for your first edits and just learn from experience man. Color correcting is a good thing to learn too

ya i made one edit when i sucked at skiing with just some clips and music haha.

whats the best way to sync your music to your clips though? like how do u know when to make the transition from one clip to another on the beat or somthing if that made any sense? haha sorry to be confusing.

What I do is listen to the music a few times and mark over where the beats are (or other places where I could use in it). In AE I believe you just hit shift + (number 1-10) and it marks a number above the timeline for that spot.

Okay ill try both of those thanks!

Since im new to editing do you guys think it would better to learn on FCP or AE and Premier pro

Alright cool. This is a dumb question but how do you change the color of a little clip in the edit like make it go from green to yellow to red and stuff? And also at the start of videos i have seen people put that gopro thing at the start how the letter shoot out of it if thaf makes sense? What is that stuff called so i can find a tutorial on how to do it?

Also do you guys do all your clip cutting and stuff like that in premiere pro then move it to after effects when you want to start adding music and stuff like that?

Use premiere to do the actual cutting and adding music and possibly color correction/grading (or use some other program, I like to do it in ae since it s what I know best (and you can do good masking with it)). Then to do stuff like motion trackign or 3d effects or some other stuff in ae. You can basically use premiere pro for most of the edit. Ae is just for some special stuff mainly.

I think you just hold shift or control or somethign and type the thing, but i don't remember. Might be *.

Alright cool! Thanks for all your help man!

Do you happen to know what its called when in a video at certain spots the whole thing flashes different colors?

or can you give me a link to a tutorial of it if you know what im talking about?

yeah thats probably a film burn but those are way overused and look bad imo. you just overlay the film burn stock footage over the clips basically. Not sure where people get the footage (probably some free download somewhere) itself though
