could i get a computere for around $1000 that i could do editing with??? what are some things that the computer would need to have for it to work well(prosser speed,etc.)???

 
you don't need much, but lotta ram is good, and a lotta space for hard drive. or if you want just add another hard drive and some more ram into the comp you're using... it'd save money n time.

Just get the fastest computer you get get for $1000, then get 1Gb RAM for it - memory is very cheap these days.

 
for budget editing, i would suggest building your own computer, go with an athlon xp with 512 ram and prob around 80 gigs or hard drive space, in, if you have the money, a raid setup

movie maker for video editing r u joking? movie maker is garbage....i use premiere (MATT!!!) and final cut pro. bah just buy more memory and ram u'll be set...if u buy video editing software they come with all the video viewing software already so u don't need to download quicktime or any of that stuff

I use Movie Maker 2 to edit stuff rom my digital stills camera, and it does a great job. It's a big step up from regular Movie Maker, but of course it's nothing like Premiere. But hey, it's free.

From Microsoft's site - just search Goggle for 'Windows Movie Maker 2'. I think it's XP only.
