Editing Systems?

Im wanting to start doing some serious editing....i have windows movie maker now, which sucks! ive used adobe pro, pinnacle, and i movie before but dont have any of them. Im wanting to buy an editing program and not just steel one from limewire...Which one would you recomend that isnt too expensive(dosnt have too b one i liste)???

make sure you get premier pro if you're getting premier, you'll be unhappy if you don't. i know where you can get a good price on it, you have to be a student though, PM for more info. avid is good too, but much harder to use, it used to be the top program, but many have gone mac. Final Cut is the way to go if your a mac guy. those three make up the basis of what most professionals use. along with after effects for cool stuff like special effects, but it is usually used to supplement and enhance what is done on the others. premier is the newest and least used, though it's gaining popularity, especially the 2.0 version that's worked out the kinks of 1.5 and added some new features. 1.5 is still a legit option if you find a good deal and are tigh on money.
 
^ yeah vegas is really sick, the quality comes out nasty and theres a good amount of effects and everything, Adobe pro has alittle more though and everything that vegas has soo i use that now
 
Sense you are on a PC i would run with Premier Pro along with Adobe After Effects. Could get pricey but so worth it, also I think you can get discounts because you are a student.
