Editing software

Hey guys, I just picked up a hero 6 black for this season and was wondering what video editing software everyone recommends? Keep in mind I'm new to editing so I dont want to spend a fortune.... tia

What kind of computer do you have? Can't recommend illegal downloading, but giving Apple $300 for final cut seems like a lot. You can get a 30 day trial, and just keep changing the date on your computer, so it never expires. Some people I know swear by adobe premiere, but again, if you just got into editing, I think iMovie will be fine for the time being.

$300 is nothing for a professional level app like final cut, and you can actually get it for $200 if you're qualified (hint: almost everyone is)https://www.apple.com/us-hed/shop/product/BMGE2Z/A/pro-apps-bundle-for-education

OP if you're just casually tossing together GoPro edits I wouldn't worry about the specific program when your starting out, iMovie or free Resolve if your on windows would be more than fine

Most paid productions and youtube creators, use adobe primere. Its super expensive but if you can get some type of discount if your a student. I think its the best compared to any other software.

honestly iMovie is good enough. super intuitive and easy to learn, you don't really need a lot of tech to cut clips and put rap music over it

For just about any of your average edits, I would reccomend IMovie. Cheap, easy to use, and easy to get your hands on.

Final cut is great but most of what you're paying for in my opinion is all the extra details which you won't use if it's your first time editing. I don't even use the extra features really.

the GoPro Studio app is free and pretty sweet software to be fair. You'd be a maniac to spend $200+ on video editing software for instagram/youtube ski edits.

The Studio app was strangely discontinued by GoPro which is a real shame, so you can't download it from their website. but you can download it here alongside Quik (if you've already installed Quik you'll have to unistall it, but you won't lose your videos).

I did this literally last week after I got a new laptop and discovered GoPro don't support Studio anymore. So it's all safe. I had to search the entire bloody internet for this download so you're welcome!
