Editing Program for PC that supports MP4

I have a dell with windows XP and need a free video editing program that will support my videos off my nano. The format on these im pretty sure is MP4. Any help would be greatly appreciated and +10k to everyone with positive responses

right now i am using pinnacle studio 12 ultimate and it works pretty well. it supports almost any video and music format.

i know in premiere all you have to do is change the file extension to .mov and the program uses a different algorithm to decode the file and .mp4s work fine...give that a try.
