I got a HD Hero for xmas and was mad stoekd to use it, went out got footy, both in r2 and r3 (720p 30fps /720p 60fps respectively)

I broguht it back in and plugged 'er in and put all my footage onto an external HD. After that i imported into Vegas, made sure the project was the same aspects as the footage, and then tryed to edit, my preview box is VERY VERY (let me emphasize more) VERY laggy.

As a test i jsut blindly rendered a full clip and it played back flawlessly on my computer.

MY computer definately has the power to edit HD as i have been editing from my HV30 for a year now with absolutely no problems.

Im asking here on NS because the answeres ive found on google make no sense to me, ( im a bit new to the whole video editing "language")

MAD +K to anyone who helps me, or atleast trys to.

I am in the exact same situation right now.I can edit hv30 footage easy, but the gopro is choppy.

Right now I have been just doing the shift+b trick to watch it, but it's not very good when you got a 20+second clip to watch.

Same its REALLY frustrating, im trying to decide if downloading Adobe Premiere would make a difference but im not sure, Shift+B sucks cause you cant get far at all :/

If you find anything out please inform me man

That's just a part of sony Vegas . Since the gopro records in mp4 it's just super slow. I usually render all my gopro footage into an AVI before I start editing or render a little bit through editing. And don't worry , when you render your final copy it won't be laggy . Hope that helped

Oh and reason for mp4 being slow: earlier versions of Vegas didn't even accept mp4 . They just started accepting it with Vegas 8 I think, may have been 7 though.

Whenever i render a clip into an AVI it cmes out in Black and White with terrible pixelation(or w.e) are their some setting s im fucking up?

I had that issue editing with Adobe, but I haven't had any problems with Final Cut or iMovie. Not sure what it is, but it's probably something to do with the file format.

Mine was super choppy especially when I sped things up or slowed them down, but after rendering and such, it turned out great. It's just too much information for such a small preview I guess.

can you change the size of the preview? i know you can i newer versions of vegas?

also maybe go to the preferences menu and change the amount of RAM vegas gets to use?

Make sure you're running Vegas PRO, not a lower end version. I had the exact same problem and then I got pro and it worked flawlessy.

Exact same situation, Mine is supppeeerrrr slow. It is like sequence shots its soo slow. Im just gonna get a trial for a different editing software.

I had the same problem with vegas platinum 9 awhile ago with a go pro hd, recently i got a t2i and had the problem again and found this to convert the files to many differnt types, making them play smoother in sony vegas, hope this helps
