Not sure if its just me, but do you guys have a specific edit that got you into freeskiing?
Amongst many, one I remember quite clearly was the "Team Armada Hits New Zealand" edit from late 2006.

Post up your guys edits that got you into the sport

not gonna lie

three years ago i typed steezy into youtube. first thing on the list was tom wallisch's superunknown. i watched it about a million times not even knowing what it was.

the first thing was probably Propaganda which i got in like 2004 probably and i was in my mtns local shop looking for a jacket saw it on vhs for 3 dollars got my dad to buy sat back and was amazed by the first shot of candide doing a backflip to rail.....one of my favorite movies of all time

Heard about freshtival from a friend of mine, went with my parents. Saw the poorboyz movie and something else. Proceeded to buy Push.
Eric Pollard's segment in that movie changed my life. Still one of my favorite segments ever.

i'm not going to embed, but the edit(s) that got me really really really into freeskiing were the ROAD TRIP CHALLENGE episodes. everything compared to sunday river seemed really alien to me, but watching hibbert(?) attempt the elusive front 2 out of the rail i butt slid down was really really cool. than i downloaded the freeskier podcast when i got an ipod and just watched like 3 hours of ski trailers and shit all in one night. actually i think googling "when does road trip challenge come out" lead me here to NSanyways, this was a gem off the freeskier podcast

The teaser for show and prove got me into freeskiing a few years back. Couple others I first saw were Pep in 1242 and Mik D in Royalty and I was hooked

gooooood thread
also, getting my mom to drop me off with a buddy at a warren miller premier and watching like, rehashed PBP footy

honestly i got into freeskiing after watching the mount snow mega mother hucker footage when i was 12. probably made me the happiest kid on earth.

for me it was

and the pep, tanner and pep segments posted earlier. so amazing

I remember watching the pop yer bottlez trailer and thinking it was the greatest thing i had ever seen, then seeing icer air in 2006 and then tom's superunknown in 2007 and that pretty much did it for me

cant find it on the web but when i first started i bought PBP's X = Ten and i blew a load the first time i saw it

The ski movie that did was The Tangerine Dream by TGR but I dunno which edit it was...I forget the name but I think it was an Armada team edit a couple years back that my little bro showed me and I was blown away.

This and T-Walls Superunknown. I on NS today in AP Env. Science and a kid came up to me and said "do you remember freshman year (Im now a senior) when you used to always watch skiing on the computer?" I thought to myself, "The thing is, i still do everyday".

i dont think it was an edit that did it for me.

i grew up literally 2 minutes away from a small hill called horseshoe valley in southern ontario. I skid almost everyday in the winter. nightskiing lessons when i was 3 up until i was old enough to start racing and I joined the nancy green program etc. then moved to vermont in 4th grade because of my dads job. Here I thought the racing was too intense so the first year I just skiid. Made a good friend who had an older brother in a freeride program. we looked up to him and shit and always tried to do rails with him. Then we would watch LJ, John Fay (smuggs) and Hennie (bob_dole) fucking kill it in the park. thought freeskiing was the sickest thing ever. joined the freeride program the next year when we were old enough and from there it was just life haha.

so heres LJs superunknown which was filmed a bit at smuggs.

It was either Global Storming or Sick Sense by MSP back in 2000 when I first saw them both (yeah, it came out in 1998 and 1999), or when I saw Poor Boyz "13" or "Degenerates" that same year. Probably a combination of all of them.

road trip challenge in physics? fuckin right

also to the dude that said war, i bought that off itunes for like 2 bucks in 8th grade. soooo sick

Probably Pep's 1242 segment. It's the earliest segment I can remember watching, and it just got me soooo hyped.

To be honest, it wasn't an edit, it was the year they didn't have slope at X cause of the weather and TJ and Charles were throwing the most gorgeous switch 10s ever - that was the first time I wanted to start park skiing.

tgr's tangerine dream. it took 2 years for me to actually start. but the seed was planted!

Area 51 for sure. Back in the days of young Tanner and McConkey and when snow skiing was just a side event at the summer X-Games.

I don't think there was one specific video, but I first discovered SAS films in 7th or 8th grade so I watched countless edits on there, and then there were about 6 or 7 video clips on the Line website that I would watch every single day in middle school when I could get to a computer. The one one I remember was Pete Mithoefer throwing a "McGinty Liu Kang" and I'm pretty sure he was on snowlerblades.

hah gold. rip sas for sure! i think the reason i started skiing was because i bought a plastic snowboard at walmart and was not stoked on it...skiboards ended up being cheaper (blacktape from line if you want to talk about videos) and then 2 years later i got my first pairs of line 153s. the first ski movies i got were clay pigeons, balance and los alamos...pimpy shit!
