Edges?!?!

Like a week ago i was spinning over the last two kinks of a rail annndddd clipped the last little bit of it with the inside edge of my right ski. Stomped the shit out of it but when i took my skis off I had like ten inches of edge blown out and some fucked up side walls. My question TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE is should i grab some pliers and pull out the rest, ive skied groomers trees park and pow since and have not even noticed it at all im just worried that its gonna come out at a bad time like the lip of a jump and catch and kill me! they are armadas so there are like a few sections of edge i just would have no inside edge on the right ski. (I have zero dollars for new skis)

Wow, tough break. Literally.

Try and get the warranty on it first.

The problem with skiing without an edge, especially in pow is that the core become exposed or vulnerable, since it is protected by the edge metal. If the core gets wet, it will rot, and the ski will just snap.

If it's repairable, repair it. If it's not, warranty, or you'll have to find a way to get a new pair.

Exactly the same thing happened to my Suspects last year, literally a 6 inch piece of edge trailing by the side of the ski

I'm not sure if I understand well what you are saying but if you want to pull the edge out you can always go to a ski shop they usually have those special saws or whatever to cut the edge off and they would probably do it for free.

yea i might throw some epoxy or gorilla glue the shit out of it to make it more water proof... armada warranties dont like gaping holes due to rails already tried. Thanks for the snapping advice

my edges are gone on my urban skis, but since they are so rockered out i decided riding them on the slopes for a few park runs might be fun...i was kinda wrong. i couldnt stop or carve at all because of the lack of edge + rocker. Not a good idea to pull your edges out in my mind.

yeah i would go for warranty if you could but epoxy it before you have time to send them so the core doesn't get water damage i had the same thing happen to my suspects i could literally sit on the chair and pull a piece of edge out if i wanted to but i would keep as much edge in as possible for now

You MIGHT be able to warrenty.
If not, you should pull out the least amount of edge you can, then get an old file and file the shit out of what's still hanging off so it is less likely to get caught on something.
Then get some epoxy. get some slow drying stuff. JB weld works well for this sort of thing. Put that all over where you are missing edge and sidewall. Let it cure for like 2 days, then make sure it's smooth and flush with a file.
Doing that will get you through the end of the year hopefully.

Well man i have had that happened to me on almost every pair of skies i have owned and what i did was just put epoxy in between the side wall and the edge, then clamp it and wait till the next day for it to dry. Then get a grinder and grind down the higher bumps that are still there and they should hold for a while.

Thanks for the help guys, the tanner halls died last night... I stomped a shifty disaster and while i was riding away i my ski was sticking, my sidewall, leftover edge and a good chunk of my core were all hanging out on the snow! haha gonna have to sell some shit to continue skiing

call the company and bitch at them until you can get a new pair. in your last post you mentioned that they were t-halls?

my buddy snapped a pair and they sent him a new pair.
