Edges destroying PVC rail?

So I just finished my first triple shotgun today, and after around 30 hits I noticed it had some pretty prominent marks along the top. It was where my edges had made little paper-thin pieces of PVC come off from the rails. How can I prevent this? Should I just dull down my edges till it doesn't do it anymore?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Happens to all my rails, it just happens. You could dull your edges more that would help, but some of my rails have huge cuts in them and it barely matters

How many hits do they usually last? I was hoping to go well into the thousands with mine before it needs any serious repairs.

its not gunna end up recking the pvc, dont worry.

i made a quad barrel with really thin pvc and after a few hits i was cracking it though, so make sure you have somewhat thick pvc

Damn that must have sucked. My first rail was made from a random really slippery orange tube I found, and I smashed through on the first hit. I didnt really care as I hadnt put any thought or effort into making it, and it was way to slippery anyway. My latest rail is badass and I spent a good 4 hours building it today, so I would be pretty pissed if it broke real soon.

how thick is the pvc? but dont sweat it about your edges stripping the top layer, it happens to every pvc rail. If it bothers you that much you could dull your edges but i wouldnt worry about it

You'll be fine. Honestly if you're worried dulling down your underfoot edge is never a bad thing. I like my shit really dull so I never grab into things. As long as you aren't catching you're fine though. If you rip up a big bur just rip it off and sand it smooth. I've never really seen a pvc rail get to the point where it wasn't rideable though. Maybe we just didn't shred enough. Worst case you can unscrew it and throw a new piece in.

If you really want your rail to be bulletproof paint it rasta colored. My friend did that once and his rail slid so much better and never ever cracked.

^Not really but do it

Mine have tons of scratches in them but it doesn't really matter. When I first hit them long strips of plastic came off but that doesn't happen to much. Your rail should be fine for a while.

Don't worry about it! That happens to all my tubes. After like 100 hits or less it should stop. The more you do it the more flush it will get to being a "flat bar"
