Edge cracks on Vishnus

For around 15 days of skiing brand new detuned Vishnu wets and I already have a total of 15 edge cracks across both skis. I have switched my skis every day so that can’t be the issue. This also happened to my wides last season where I had a total of 20+ edge cracks. Why does this keep happening and how do I stop it?

The only reason I can think of is that you may not dry off your skis after using them and the snow melts on the edges making them rusty and weak

Only way to stop it is to stop hitting rails.

Honestly, ski technology is hilariously far behind the curve of freestyle skiing. Park skiing had been around for what? 25ish years now? And we’re still using the same ski construction that was invented for carving on groomed trails, not slamming around on metal bars.

Sort of a shady business model to be selling skis with such thin edges with the sport being as popular and advanced as it’s become.

Obviously hitting rails is going to crack your edges but 15 cracks in 15 days is not normal

I mean, it really depends on how you’re skiing them. You could crack an edge first hit if you landed hard enough.

I don’t think you fully understand the physics of collision as well as the strength limitations of a piece of steel that’s the size of an overcooked piece of spaghetti.

you must be stomping onto rails or some shit cause my 2 year old detuned wets have like 3 edge cracks. Base bevel helps as well.

Would be quite interesting to see some research regarding what grade and treatment of steel performs better for rail impacts.

The only info regarding edge steel I can find from a quick internet search is the Rockwell hardness which is always specified. However I imagine this grade and treatment has been selected to optimise how long keep edges sharp.

A harder steel tends to be more brittle from what I can remember, and hence would not be great for slamming into rails all day, you’d want ductility. I wonder if any big company has done any real R&D in this?

I think you are going crazy bro you need to check in at an institution. Vishnu's do not get edge cracks you're just imagining it
