Edge cracking to rail damage

so iv had these skis for like half a season, and the edge broke on them in two spots and about a 2 inch section will most likely fall out in the near future, i understand this is normal for rail abuse but i have used these skis less than 25 days and i dont think that it should have happened this soon, i have talked to the company and all that they are saying is that it is rail abuse and its non refundable

just wanted some opinions on this, i love the compay, and i loved the skis until this happened

I don't know if theres much you can do about it. Its just one of those things. Have you thought about making an epoxy edge? I put one in my stl's and it has held up really well. even thought its under the middle of my boot.

i did this on my old pep fujas that i had for 2 years. It worked great, just makesure that when you go on rails try not to lead with that edge or it may snap off again.

wish you the best mate i was gutted when it happed to me

Rail damage is never covered by the warranty, no matter what company. It's kinda annoying, but it is what it is. I'd say take it to a shop and see what they can do for you, but and edge rip out isn't terrible, especially a 2 inch one, I've seen kids with the entire edge underfoot missing and they slide rails just fine. Hope it works out for you, good luck.

to an extent..some companies' edges are not as thick as others', which makes them more prone to cracking, but i wasnt asking because of this...im just curious.

There really is not anything you can do to stop your edges from ripping out. You are grinding on a metal rail, its not if its going to give out or crack, its when....
You can try and prep your ski (upon buying new ones) in order to avoid cracking and edges tearing out. Take a file and try and round off the edge under foot. Do not file the edge at a diagonal or forty-five degree angle, but try to file the edge, keeping it level at the base then moving towards the edge. This has helped my skis last quite a bit, and I am heavier and tend to trash my skis on rails.
I also ride K2s, based on them using a thick and well embedded edge. They hold up well.Just sharing what works for me, and i wish you luck.

u should see my skis im missing a good 12 inches on both skis on boths sides ha and i actually like it for rails cause i nvr stick but ya u cant get warrenty just ski em or try fix them

word what im saying though is i understand that this normally happens but for a ski that has ridden 20 days? i have ridden skis from 4 other different companies in my life and it has never happened until 50 days at least

Yeah, it could have been wrong place wrong rail wrong time... Prolly just caught a rail spur or landed on a week point of the edge....it kinda sucks, but it happens. I watched my buddies edge from his line rip directly straight out of his ski 2 months into using them, and it started at the tip and moved down from there..... kinda weird cuz its a part that wouldnt even really touch snow.... ha.

prolly suspects.

i dont get why he doesn´t say what company his skis are from.

it could help other people that are getting skis.

just imo, edge rip out in 2 months is NOT normal.

maybe if you hit 500 rails a day, but under normal use, your edges should not be that broken that they rip out in 2 months. ive been shredding my armada ar6 for 1.5 years and they still only have very minimal cracks in the edge.

just my 2 cents.
