Echo mtn

Every one that is thinking of going to Echo mountain, DONT DO IT. i went there this morning, and normally it is an ok park. This morning however nothing was groomed probably the worst thing i have skied EVER. The park workers are all a bunch of lazy kids that dont know what there doing. They definatly need a new park crew for next year or something because things are getting pretty shity there. The lips to every rail were completly destroyed by snowboards, like always. and the jumps have good ideas but you just over shoot them.

^^^agreed. i was there this morning too (and last weekend), and gstienke's right, that place is really going downhill. the lips are absolutley destroyed and have tons of ruts, and the jumps arent built very well. there is even one urban down-flat-down that is built so bad that you go straight to the flat. it was unbelievablely bad today

i dont know how the last park standing comp is gonna turn out either... i was pretty excited for it, but now i really dont know... FYI, so far the am rail jam course contains a down culvert, down wood rail, up box, and picnic table. plus the x-box

dude, its april 25th and you are complaining? my hill closed a month ago..

its almost may! sometimes you have to be happy with less than prime conditions.

i know what you mean but this was pretty bad regardless. if you dont know what echo is it is a small hill that is supposed to be just park... our main mountains all closed a while ago too. obviously the snow sucked cause it was late season, but the park crew definently could have done a better job like half the stuff was closed.

anyway i hope the comp is good... do wood rails and culverts work well on skis? ive never tried.....

what? culvert and wood rail? that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard. not even a real rail, crap, might just have to do the pro division if this is true.

usually when mtns put on big comps, and this is a big comp for echo, the rest of the park suffers. i was there last year for last park standing. and teh up keep of the non-comp features was really poor.

true thats a good point... they didnt give us a refund after 2 runs either but i guess you cant really blame them for that...

and i agree about the course not very skier-friendly... do culverts work? cause i know the down wood rail wont... the table didnt look good although the up box looked ok. maybe they'll put more out before tomorrow? there were a few rails sitting on the side...

Come on guy's don't hate on ECHO, at least the place trys to do what we want, they are the only mtn. in colorado that is an entire park, and honestly having a park is a very expensive endever, I'm sure they're doing the best they can. i was there for last park standing last year and the course was amazing one of the most fun i ever had, and i'm sure thats just whats happening right now they're focising on the course rather than the reg park. so cut um some slack, no other mtn. is doing what they are.

its practically june and you complaining about an all ready shitty park? sure there park was never really good in the first place, but its almost june and for a 5 person park crew to make it perfect like it could've been in january or something thats pretty damn hard and its never gonna happen. its late april and you're skiing stop complaining

I went there once this year for night skiing and only a couple features were in halfway decent condition some lips just werent really there, it was pretty shitty and i didnt go back after although im sure they had much better days there.

yeah thats what happens a lot of times with the lips... im not saying that you should never ever go to echo, just saying that maybe their park crew could do a better job

oh yes the first jump is so fun, the channel gap is huge and then 2 jumps after that are perfect. The step upover the quarter pipe is way gnarly, but the quarter pipe its self is so fun.

and that is not the course for the rail jam, they will make it tonight.

just wait til eclipse opens.... they've got one of the best park cat builders in the game... same one that built super park back in the day.....

Why cut them slack if they have one job to do and can't even do it? Also that last park standing setup wasn't amazing. There was one good feature, the up gap down and that was it. No rails. And some ride on flat boxes? That was an insult to me and most of the other competitors.

i was at LPS today and did the rail jam. setup was pretty fun, they had a down culvert, down log, up box, picnic and a c/walride thing. I didnt see any skiers hit the log but the culvert was pretty smooth and nice the up box was money besides the icy landing but echo cant control the weather. all in all it was a pretty sick jam. howerver thier public park blew and was primarily small striaght boxes/ rails but they will prolly change that and open the coirse once the comps over

Does anyone actually see Echo last past the next 5 years? Unless they are funded by a well off family member who doesn't really care, then I don't see it working out. I don't even see how they can cover their fixed expenses, let alone their staff.

they are trying to get a land swap with the national forest serviced passed in congress. once that happens they'll then have to get the approval for zoning i think.

also known as corregated pipe. its like a tube with divots in it they r used for like sewers and stuff i dont realy know ow to describe it.

"25 minutes from Denver"

25 minutes and you are no where near echo. That fucking road takes longer than 25 minutes.

Sure its all park, sure its relatively cheap, sure it sucks ass. I can make it to WP (on a good day) or Berthoud easily in the same time (when the echo road is 100% clear).

The people who work there are major bums...

I swear they have no idea what is going on....Some of them have to be retarded...

Nobody works the lifts, the food is shit, the lips suck (year-round), the jumps dominate you if you undershoot by a tiny tiny bit, My overall experience there was horrible. The Park Crew Manager is an asshole too.

It's kind of a hit or miss. I've had some of the best and worst days of my season there. I do think that their contests are for the majority really fun, there is always a fun vibe and good prizes. I'd rather enter a comp there than Copper or Keystone anyday. It's also their second year running...so they are still weening out the good and the bad...including employees. Whatever, I like Echo enough, they can take my $120 for a season pass...it's a good deal. + you never have to take a bus, pay, or walk really far to get to the hill...

Eclipse isnt doing a land swap they already have the land. they have already been zoned but some ashole homeowners sued them and a dumbass judge let it go to court so now they have to finish the court case before anymore progress.

I work at echo. I know what I am doing but the problem is a lazy ass park foreman ( the park crew manager who is an asshole) and a bunch of his lazy ass friends. I work at night cause I go to school full time and do my best to work on the park but half the time all the people the park foreman hired don't show up and when you only have 4 people scheduled and two people show up that means no breaks and no grooming. The other issue is buying second hand cats that break down every other day. the day you were talking about the cat had not gone out in two days because both were broken and only one can has a working tiller. There are a select few of us who work there who try our best to make it better but its an up hill battle when the day crew just feels like sitting around and getting high so the features bake all day and then its a race for us ( if enough people show up to run the lift) to go and groom before it ices over. it sucks and every time you try to make a suggestion to make some thing better the park foreman chews you out and say that he works his ass off ( BULSHIT). I never ski there unless there is a comp thats worth my time or I have to work.

Oh and the family who owns it is so wealthy they don't care. Echo actually made money this year though so it may be a slow death.

and I can hit both the culvert and the log down as well as most of the other wood rails in the Asylum tree park (after i go build skier friendly lips)

i dont blame anyone for not going there it sucks.
