Sorry, folks, but Andy's right on this one. It isn't an offer/accept contract system, as soon as that jacket goes on ebay, it's no longer your property. It's ebay's property. It becomes your property once again if a reserve is not met, but if not, it never is again. You enter into a legally binding agreement to accept whatever the highest bid is the moment you agree to sell something on that site, and you are no longer the negotiating party; the negotiations (between you and ebay, not you and the buyer; there ARE no negotiations between you and the buyer) are over. It is, technically, illegal to do what you just did. You got lucky, he was either a nive guy, really desperate, or uninformed as to his options... because he could have outright forced you to give him that jacket.
