easy way to make a backyard kicker

You take these wooden handldthings called shovels. I think. Then you take this cold white stuff called snow and put it into a pile. But this is just a superstition that I heard from this guy this one time (*strong hint of sarcasm*). But once again I don'tknow it was just a rumor.

Hahahha... very true, very true....

If you don't have too much snow though, you can use a wooden jump (steal your friend's skateboard ramp) and put like carpet or crosspieces that will hold the snow and you can get a jump out of almost nothing.

And if it's above freezing, use salt to harden it. TRUST ME.

Damn I hate fall.

if you have more time/less effort than the guy above you can do what we did yesterday. we took a shovel and a garbage bag and found a good place to make a hip. then we took the shovel and make massive piles of snow, then filled up the garbage bag, and dumped it where are jump was to be (snow was being held by larg peices of styrofoam. we made a decent sized hip with 2 inches of snow on the ground.

pile up snow and pack it together forming a takeoff.

Homer-Me? what did you say?

Lisa-BABOOOOOON!!!!!

biggest problem really is speed, if your backyard doesnt have any slope. If you can't do a tow-in, build a ramp off your roof. If you have a lot of snow, just pile it up- otherwise, lean up two or three long ladders and cover them with sheets of plywood. Dangerous, unstable, yet functionable.

I tkae lots of logs, put them all in the same place and put something like 1/2 feet of snow over it...

the real problem is the inrun, but since you asked about how to make a jump, you already have a correct natural inrun.

I'm feeling greeaaaattt!!!!

We built a huge 9 feet tower for speed and we'll make a quarter pipe at the other end!! Of course, our neighbors snowblowers came in pretty handy! ;)

freeski, you said you built a nine foot tower, I have the exact same sized tower, with a steep slope, how much speed does yours get you, How high can you jump with that much speed?

My back yard has a small man-made hill about 7-10ft. high, I built another 4 feet on top of that and made a little kicker at the bottom, It was just biggenough to do grabs and stuff, but then the snow got too slow so It didn't work, I'll have to try the salt thing.

yea i have about 10 ft of verticle..... in my nieghbors yard... so we buit a launch ramp from my yard to theirs w/ jibs/kickers in their yard. for it to be any good tho, we need a good amount of snow and salt.

Funny how massive corporations and media giants like NBC refuse to support new skiing events like big air and big mountian, yet they use the latter's image to enhance their own. Actually, not so funny. Suck it, NBC.

don't put too much salt. Your grass will die when it all melts. What I did, because my backyard isn't all that big, was I took those big blue garbage bins with rollers on them. I got one and packed it full with snow from my front patio. then wheeled it into my backyard and then when you dump it upsidedown and you get a block of fairly packed together snow.

my backyard rules. 9 rails 2 kickers big quarter pipe 8 foot tall hip. the rails are a ten foot flat rail a 15 foot handrail 2 small rails a curvy swingset slide a picnic table with two rails comming off the ends and a bench.

Oh yeah!? Well my park has:

-1,000 ten foot kickers.

-6,000 foot rail.

-a gap over a school bus.

-a gap over a small canyon.

-1,200 table tops.

-6,000 rails.

-1,000 superpipes.

-12,000 quarterpipes.

If you don't have any snow, then get a pick-up truck and fill it up with snow from all of the ice rinqs around... you must have at least one.

a couple of trips until you have enough snow for the takeoff, and landing should do fine... the best is doing urban rails during the middle of august

I did that in september some buddies and I went to the rink but on the way back we lost half the snow throwing at things on the side of the road, and cars

nit gateskate again, harvey, i think your banning powers might come in handy here

If you pile the snow on top of a picnic table, you wont need as much of it. Also try to find a natural landing so you dont have to build one. My buddy learned backflips on a jump like this.

Ya the jump shouldn't be as much trouble as getting enough speed. I've kinda wanted to use a treadmill like they did on traveling circus xD. Don't know how'd that end up. Anybody ever tried that before?

Just build a base up with rectangular straw bales and put snow on top. Then pack the snow down and shape to your desired look. It will save a lot of snow that you can use for other parts like a powdery landing.

This was the least helpful first post Ive ever seen. You made an account, but you failed to realize this thread was 13 years old haha
