And make sure your "clothing company" only makes T-shirts with your companys dumb logo on them.

It really is easy to get lots of free stuff from Subaru. Not actually a sponsorship but sometimes they will actually hook it up with good stuff you will even want to use.

Literally just ask Saga. They sponsored a kid just because he asked. Anyone remember that? Love you Saga

when I was a young lass i asked my older cuzin who at the time was a professional racer how to get sponsored He said dont worry about it if you work hard your time will come, best advice ever, its hard to be patient but just get a job to afford it. get up to the mountain as much as possible get to know the people at your mt, create a name for yourself and sponsors will come to you. A few comps here and there will help as well, also if you ever get a chance to get in touch with a rep that is the best way to get recognized, and insta as well

vemma.. I heard they're a legit company

or upload sponsor me video with clips of you doing air guitar solo's to NS

also how is it expensive when you're 13 and I'm guessing your parents buy all your stuff? Soak up those days

I think you should better join on a ski club then. I heard some members has been sponsored. You will know better through them anyway.

I'm assuming you're not good enough to get sponsored by a legitimate company yet, because most people who ask this question aren't. Just have fun and make edits and you could make it.

Well if you find your self making a thread about companies that are easy sponsors then there is a 95% chance you ant good enough for anything and need to suck it up and get good or just buy used or cheap shit or just get a fucking job. However if you really think you are good enough smith optics will give a lot of kids grass roots sponsorships and rossignol just told me I was an "up and comer on their radar" and now sponsoring me and sending me skis and bindings of my choice this fall. and I suck but the sponsorships are year to year so this is probably a one year thing because I suck. but go for red bull

Get a job, then you're always sponsored by yourself. No one to report to, no timelines, no Instagram hashtag bullshit.

Well, I mean technically you have to report to your boss at your job. And you might have project timelines. And your job might be social media crap involving being an Insta warrior. So idk about this...

OP, you realize representatives from companies see this stuff? And you're basically walking up to the bar, age 13, and yelling, "who wants to have sex with me? I'm pretty good at jerkin it, but I want to have real adult sex!"

You do realize that most "pro skiers" actually have to work as well to support their ski "career"? I've seen countless people fall into the trap of, "Oh I'll make it as a pro skier, then I'll get free stuff, and get paid to do what I love!" Yeah, that's bullshit unless you're the top 1% in the game. Otherwise you're getting flowed a little gear while trying to make ends meet with some shitty dead-end job that gives you enough time to "live the dream", while also keeping up with sponsorship responsibilities as well.

At least in my mind it makes way more sense to work hard for a good job, in a prime area, that's flexible enough to ski on your own dime. No matter what you'll have to be working hard, and putting in time for your deadlines. Do you want skiing to become another job to stress about when you're in the mountains? Or do you want it to be your release that you get to fully enjoy for yourself?

Just my 2 cents...

I don't disagree, and of course I know that stuff. But I think you missed my point. What you wrote above implied that you would "have no one to report to" with a job instead of sponsorship, which is not true, because your job will have a boss.

I am 13 and am pretty good at park and pow. I want to get some free gear because everything is so expensive now.

Try going to hiking/camping stores and buying old stock or whatever is on sale. Usually you can find top quality stuff not designed for skiing but still works fine. Cos you're 13 and likely a small size, that should work to your advantage at finding sale items.

Yep I am in a similar spot, Im not insanely good or anything my best trick is a sw mute 9 or a cork 9 blunt but I got a %50 sponsorship and they told me theyll see how I do and then go from there so next year if I dont get any better and dont impress them I wont have a sponsorship from them. OP should just get a job for now since hes young and wont have a free gear sponsorship probably ever because its insanely hard to especially with the talent these days.

OP if youre really willing to try getting a sponsor now start with very small companies, Saga wont do you to well unless of course you send nudes.

... if you want to put a Heartcarve logo on it, feel free. You can get the full size image from the gallery. I just don't know how you'd put it on Goretex.

I also don't know if you'd be able to handle the influx of lifeforce. I call it pre-sponsoring supercharging.

Well no shit sherlock, but do you want a boss while you're skiing?

A work boss is unavoidable unless you work for yourself. With skiing you have full freedom to do whatever you want (within reason), until you get sponsored. Then skiing is your job. You're no longer just skiing for yourself, you have an image of whatever company you're riding for to uphold, and are constantly competing against other up and comers for that illusive product.

This was the missing puzzle piece, I know see what you were saying.

For what it's worth, the idiom "do what you love" obviously exists for a reason. I'm sure some skiers (read: people who ski) will find it much easier to seek success in the ski industry (as professionals or otherwise) than in other, more 'traditional' fields. This is why you may see young NSers putting time and love into their skiing/filming projects while reporting shitty GPAs in NSG posts. But I also have firsthand experience with having work/employment ruin what you love. It's part of the reason I don't really film/edit anymore, and at one point I almost went to school for it. Everyone is different, I suppose.
