Eastcoast Rockers

Just trying to get some input about using rockers on the ice coast.

I would think that with the usual no or superheavy pow that we have, rockers would not be the best call. This is also considering that, unfortunately, most of us rely upon groomers for at least part of the season, before the real snow starts to dump. Without camber, wouldnt these babies be pretty lame on the groomers/ice, along with the usual icy landings in the park? I think they would be fun for buttering around and stuff, but when it would come to riding hard, they would come up short.

I know that they have been designing rockered skis with rocker in the tips and maintaining the camber elsewhere so as to prevent the tip dive while still performing well elsewhere (ie the new solomons) but for the east coast i feel like it would still be lacking.

Is this true or am i overlooking something? for now it seems like rockering is almost like swallow tails, its a very specific technology with limited uses unless youre in decent pow. And considering the vast number of skis including rocker now, even skis that are not wide enough to be pow skis like the moments that are only mid 90s in the waist, it seems it is being overused of late and will quickly go back to being used only on BC intended skis.

I think that if you bought a ski that was rockered in the tip and not the tail, it would just be weird unless you were in powder, because you would feel a LOT more tail than tip.

normal rocker skis are skiable on hardpack, but not fun.

Rocker in general, however, is more noticeable in heavy pow than light pow, because light pow is easier to ski without rocker. It helps a lot more in heavy snow, although it's always amazing in pow

You might look at an Elizabeth or Sir Francis Bacon. They have the flex zones similar to the anthem and invader, so when they encounter resistance from soft snow, they flex and it is similar to a rocker. That way they will still be flat on the groomers.

i rode them all last season and loved them icy was not a problem it turns out that they handle very good when you get them on edge you will love them

what about rails? would anyone dare to go on rails with nosepresses would be sick with rockered skis

rockers and rails are like cheating its so easy to press and the best feeling is bs spins outcuz you can push them off teh rail its such a cool feeling

rails for sure, but im not so sure they would be sturdy enough platforms for poppin big kickers or ripping lines all over the place. With the softer flex of pow skis and less edge on the snow, it seems much easier to wash out on landings, not to mention its pretty obvious that with less edge on the snow you cant carve turns nearly as hard.
im not saying thats the case im just saying that it doesnt make sense technically that it would be otherwise.

im getting my first pair of rockers this year. I also have lizzies for the icy days but im hoping they are at least somewhat useful on groomers.
