East vs West

whats better?

i think the east has better hardcore skiers and more snow ;)

but the west has sicker terrain and more vert

what do you guys think

Go to Central British Columbia and with the exception of big white you will find huge relatively empty mountains. And if you think the East has more snow then look at Baker. Peace.

About 615' annual snowfall for Mount Baker. If only it weren't two hours away from me, I'd go there more often.

Yeah whistler and blackcomb are what, only the combined vertical of ever mountain on the East coast? Lates

Yeah, combined Whistler and Blackcomb has like 10,000 feet of vertical... That is just damn wrong.

i have to admit that skiers learn to stick stuff better on the east cus if you dont...ouch

Hyland Hills, Minnesota has almost 200 vertical feet of sick lines and massive kickers. Suxors with more.

i think east-coasters and mid-westerners are better jibbers but west-coasters are way better overall skiers

If you want park skiers than yeah, you look to the east. But if you want all mountain then look west my friend. Peace

theres sum good jibbers coming outta the west like anthony borenouskifnddlsnvoennjglfdv njsaipfew

Yeah my post was just a generalization. There are the exceptions. But usually east is better at jibbing than west. And the west is usually better all mountain. Peace

well bring a west coast skier out east hed be like fuck this, and bring an east coast skier out west and hed be like HEaven, iimmmm in heaven.. so yea.

the east coast is way underestimated

ive seen 20+ cliffs with pow landings in places like smuggs and magic

and ive never been (yet) to places like jay peak, stowe, mad river im sure some of them got some stuff to huck off

all im saying mainly is that the east is underestimated and bad weather/ice has really made a shitty name for the east

the west overall is probably better

skiers on the east are more hardcore though

to all you west coasters, jay peak got 574 inches last year, that is more then 99% of the places out west last year got, shitty snow in the west is in the future.

i have a cool signature

We have 20'+ out here its just the landings are usually flatter and have less snow. you can't really compare the two skis, but I think east coasters would fare better out west than west coasters would fare out east. westerners would see a 60' icy table and be like 'hell no', we would be like oh well.

I was kidding, both have sick skiers in diff disciplines. but i do think that if i can hold on edge down an icy steep run that it wouldn't take that long for me to adjust to keepin an edge on a powdery run.

yeah i think midwest/east skiers are more adaptable to other ski conditions. There is a guy at my hill who moved from utah to WI and whenever we would get the tiniest bit of new snow everyone would be excited and he would just bitch about landings being hard. but he was amazing. so i think both coasts have amazong skiers just used to different conditions

shitty snow everywhere is in the future.. theres no way around it.. this year will probly be the last great year well see in our lifetimes..

i vote we beat shwags for that comment. We have the worst snow in north american in north carolina... half the time, half the runs arent covered.

The east is good. You have to explore more to find the goods (in reference to cliffs, etc.).

I dont know if I can agree with Schwags on his last comment though. Sounds kind of...well, wrong.

I haven't skied ont he east coast, but ya I'm sure there's better jibbers out there cause that's the only thing to do...on the west you can do that and so much more...lik in CO the average summit is like 12,000 ft

big white, silverstar and those mountains are super nice. not as crowded, and all high speed quads. really nice up there

What choo talkin' 'bout Willis?
Water Water Everywhere. So why don't you go take a bath?

and the good thing about silverstar is that theres almost no snowboarders. that i could see

All those mountains you mentioned also have some of the nicest snow you can imagine. Been to all of em and half the time they are almost completely empty. Thats starting to change though since big white is becoming such a large resort. Peace.

The Northwest rules over everyone (not really) but we do get a huge mix of everything. Huge snowfall but warm weather that results in alot of ice. I think i would fare pretty well in the east.

The one and only Delnegro283rd

did you guys see ..wasnt sure if it was powder or skiing, but one of them had an article of where theres gonna be snow in the future or not.. everyone got bad predictions except the east

yay

ive skied in the east and in the west, and both sides have equally hard parts.

i have a cool signature

i live on the east and i think it has awesome glades and stuff but the west coast is definitly where the snow and mtns is, but the snow in the norhteast kingdom of vermont(jay peak) is just as good as any west coast snow!west coast is definitly an awesome place to ski big mtn, much better than east big mtn

Newfoundland and Jay Peak are sexcellent!

Forget this east v. west shit and head out to Europe...ultimate skiing experience. 10x bigger than any mountain in the US

--This one goes out to all the virgins...thanks for nothing!--

Does it matter? But, as the last post said, Europe definitely beats out the US. I skied the Alps once when I was little - been skiing ever since (that was my first time on skis). Been dying to go back ever since too

i went to Europe once when i was 12

skiing was big for me then but i wasnt a freak like now... im so glad im a freak

A bad day in europe is better than a good day out west... Some backcountry runs will take ya 45min of non stop hardcore skiing....

Europe defenitely owns North America. Teina(Teenya) in Frence is 3 times the size of Whistler/Bloackcomb/Lake louise put together. It also has a vertical of 14500 feet and 4 parks. Back to United States, West has more all around skiers. They have good parks, alot of all mountain, and alot of moguls. East coast only has parks.... if they are lucky.

oh, Tiena also links up with Val'd'Irene which is the size of Vail. Talk about big ass resorts.

Lets not forget the Courchevel, Meribel, Val d'Thoren connection...high quality...good trees

and places in europe are at a lower elevation. I dont understand why you would want a high elevation. well at least not as high as parts of loveland and arapahoe where it is like 13,000 feet or something.
