East Peak Resort Valdez, AK

Hey all, I came across a website for a potential ski resort in Valdez, AK. Pretty much, the website states that the vision is to build a chairlift in Valdez and to develop a resort. However, it seems like the project has been an idea for over 10 years now and not much progress has been made. It looks like for right now they are only doing Snow-Cat tours of the mountain. Just curious if anyone knew anything about it, as it seems like a sweet project.

Fully agree, the backcountry scene in Valdez is great and a massive ski resort would probably ruin that. Also they would would have to depend on mostly tourists, as Valdez is way to small to support a ski resort of that size. Interesting idea tho.

Oh yeah, would 100% ruin what Valdez is right now, but it's one of those things I can see happening within the next 10-20 years as places like Colorado get more crowded and the demand goes up.

valdisease is already trash.
 
those of you who live/ski in Alaska, whats it like there? snow, terrain, housing, commute to the mountain, etc.? AK has always intrigued me and spending a season up there is definitely still on the table
