i lived in mammoth last year and the snow on the east (mount snow) lately is as good as the pow was there, not quite as much but almost

^ What are you talking about. If you have spent any time in the backcountry or traveling around to other resorts you wouldn't say that. The cascades get wet heavy snow along with the sierras. Rockies, tetons, and wasatch get lighter, colder, drier snow. North Idaho gets a variation of the two with warmer temps than the rockies but drier snow than the cascades. And that is just on the west coast. Your an idiot. Oh yeah and sure the east gets good snow but the mountains are so weak you can't take advantage of it.

The last storm the snow was super light but Monday the snow was so heavy, it's usually heavy snow.

Anyone ever look at the mountains AROUND mammoth? Endless. 12,000 to 14,000 foot peaks, covering an area almost twice the size of the entire state of Vermont. All you gotta do is walk out there and ski it.

I'll give it up to you though... east coasters are dedicated. I mean, seriously, you keep defending your shitty glorified sand dunes like its your job. You got heart man, a big heart. Rudy would be proud.

well, most of the mountains are about the same SIZE in total vertical feet. the west just has them at higher elevations, which equals more snow. but the east is off to a good start. i loved the 2 foot dump for the 1st storm of the season....

i skied some powder today, it was an awsome feeling, but still nuttin like ud find on the west coast. it was still cool though. i kept tellen my friends that thier dumbasses if theyd rather hit the park than ski this shit and they were like who cares the shit is slow and its hard. pussies

I think since it's colder on the east coast the snow is drier, however there is no point in having two feet of powder if you can't huck your meat of a 30' cliff into it.

So far VT has gotten around 48 inches of snow and winter has not officially began, and the average annual snow fall is 76' (source: JIM MOORE channel 5)

i live in the east, and i love skiing out here, but i gotta say that the west coast snow is better, if only we didnt get some much damn ice in the east.

There is always misconceptions with this argument. I have skied at Whistler, Jackson Hole, Alta, Snowbird and Crested Butte and all are very sick. Alta is super deep and whistler is killer sustained vert. But I just got back from one of my best days ever at Stowe and the amount of fun I had today ripping deep snow was as much fun as I've ever had skiing super deep at Alta. Its not about whats bigger and better but the feeling you get from either. The East Coast is just as good because its just as fun.

The beauty of the East Coast does not lie in powder filled bowls and gnarly couloirs, but it lies in the challenge of the search. A quest for powder and good skiing on the East Coast is an adventure in itself and, I believe, enriches the experience as a whole. And once that paradise run, pow line, chute or cliff drop is found, the fact that no one believes it exists makes it taste that much better.
