we have ice occasionally, only when they havent made snow recently or it hasnt snowed naturally, or it has rained. and we do have pow, lots of it. just gotta know where to look.

look at my jay peak thread....... then ull see not alwase ice out east

---------------------------

THE POWER IS YOURS

Our world is in peril. Gaia, the Spirit of the Earth, can no longer stand the terrible destruction plagueing our planet. She sends five magic rings to five special young people: Kwame, from Africa, with the power of Earth. From North America, Wheeler, with the power of Fire. From Eastern Europe, Linka, with the power of Wind. From Asia, Gi, with the power of Water. And from South America, Ma-Ti, with the power of Heart. When the five powers combine, they summon Earth's greatest champion, Captain Planet!

the popular resorts are jay peak, smugglers notch, killington, mt snow, sugarbush, okemo and some others. jay peak is the best i hear but ive never been there so i couldnt tell ya. check out *Neil's thread titled why jay peak is the best in the east. that'l sum up jay for ya.

early spring tuckermans ravine also fills up with snow windblown off some other mountains. gets pretty nice at times. its not a resort though, which means hiking it. its the most popular backcountry spot in the east. peace man

the backcountry of sugarloaf (and inbetween trails...boarder to boarder skiing is sick) is some of the best east coast skiing I've ever done.

ice bulids character anyway

ice cooks bacon in the park

Well I've skied mostly in West Virignia, but in vermont a few times growin up. We usually get 100 inches of snow per season and night skiing is a brick and spring is a brick underenath the snow (if any natural fell) its a brick. Vermont is much better than southeast/eastcoast skiing

Crashin' with Passion'

You know your a good skier when you drive your standard car all the way to the resort in your ski boots.

trembs is on the east too.... its by far one of the biggest resorts in the east.....

and there are some other quebecois ski resorts that no one has heard of yet they are west-coast material, like le massif, for example, and mont st anne. and yeah tremblant is the best one i go to, but i wanna go to jay.

Joel

i'm come outta okemo, and i'm admiting it, the west is better, but there's facts to back that up, like a dryer climate making drier, fluffy powder, and thaey haave musch better BC and a million times more of it. the leveler though is the superior parks in the east, where it doesn't really matter if there's powder or high mountains. well, that's my 2 cents

ya if u wanna sick pipe go to okemo.... It dont get much better than the one they have there

depends where u ski in the east. i ski the hills a few hours of philly and we get a few inches of natural snow a year, verticals or 1000 max, and no parks. but like doghoy said its better than nothin.

Waterville has the bestest steeeziest park on the east coast hands down...well maybe except stratton...but who knows what you'll think

i think killington, tremblant and stratton are he biggest in the east..Trembs being being the biggest with a great park i mean...but yes..mont st anne,le maffis..stoneham..underrated but have lots of good stuff and potential..im making a trip to trmelbant next yr and st anne

killington is big but it really sucks. sooo many people ski there so all the powder or semi decent snow gets sloughed off and its so damn icy. unless it snowed the night before dont even bother going to killington. the 4 times i made the trip there it wasnt worth it.

-paul

i think i think i like it like thata

whoever said the east had better parks...what coast do you think mammoth and whistler are on?

if your low on money and wanna get good in the park, got to waterville. 29 bucks on weekend and my favorite park.

for being the biggest mountain in the east, killingtons park suucks but its open in early november which is nice

i wasnt impressed with killington at all when i went, sunday river doesnt open quite as early as killington, but when it opens with a good park. 2 jumps, a hip, 3 rails and 2 boxes.
