East coast skiing resorts

I am living in rhode island and i was planning of going on a trip during feburary break to somewhere in the east coast and i was wondering if anybody knew about some nice mountains in the east coast im looking for a good overall mountain something with nice conditions, sweet park and basically just a great mountain overall

Jay is always a solid choice for powder/tree skiing. That is VT is getting snow. We've been the beneficiary of a pretty awesome storm track as of late and have been getting some sizeable snowfall. I believe over 3+ feet since the beginning of February so the woods are pretty prime if you can score some lines that haven't been turned into a luge track.

I ski at Stowe, and while it is expensive for day passes, Mt. Mansfield does offer some pretty awesome skiing. Really good woods access right of the lifts and some minor hiking if you want to get to the more serious stuff. Tyro terrain park is the big park, and I have only been through it once this year, but had some decent sized jumps and couple of rail features. Also Stowe has North Slope which has a flat box, down rail, then a jump line consisting of three hits (can hit a cannon on first set) and then two more rails at the bottom.

Also, Bolton Valley has night skiing and a mediocre park if you're looking for something to do at night.
 
okemo has a good park but everything else is really easy and groomed.

Id go to either jay peak, sugarloaf, sugarbush/mad river glen(right next to each other), or stowe
 
Jay peak (great glades), sugarloaf (steep trails and challenging terrain not to mention the food is awesome), or loon (there park is pretty sick)
 
I love Okemo, but i have season pass there so I am slightly biased, the park is pretty good this year, couple of good jumps, 45, 55, 60 footers stair set, few fun rails, but the regular trials are nothing special
 
best all around skiing experience on the east has got to be stowe. I haven't been everywhere, but I've been to a lot of east coast resorts and in my mind stowe is the best overall. Sugarloaf has cool terrain, but it doesn't even really compare to mt. mansfield if you're willing to put in a little extra effort. Also Stowe's parks continue to improve every year with this year being no exception. Tyro is big enough for dubs, north slope is fun medium jumps (getting rebult too so it will be better than its been hopefully), and the pipe is surprisingly really fun if you have edges or its soft.
If you want straight up park, go to mt snow, but if you want variety stowe is probably your best bet. Unfortunately it is also probably the most expensive... unless killington is more?

Killington has some good stuff too. And some really sick parks.(dew tour pipe) Just sayin...

KILLINGTON! i personally don't like Okemo plus if killington is too crowded for you go to pico. no lift lines the park is ehh its small but still pretty fun and you can fing really fun trees and powder even if it hasnt snowed in a while
 
Gotta vouch for my home mountain here. Killington gives a very well rounded experience. The parks are good if that's what you want. There are trees and steeper runs that are challenging. Plenty of ticket deals running around this year and the tickets aren't much more than most other large eastern resorts.

For an all-around skiing experience (park, steeps, trees, etc...), I wouldn't waste my time with anything south of Killington. There's just too little natural snow and a lack of terrain (with the exception of Magic Mtn which has epic terrain but no park) for me.

Jay is bonkers for natural terrain. Park seemed to be quite limited though and it is a haul to get to.
 
If you're going over February break, Killington and Okemo are going to be packed... I'd go further north to Jay. Maybe Sunday River in Maine? Went there for the first time this year but there was no freaking snow. The trees looked fun but I couldn't vouch for them. Also had a pretty nice early season park.
 
stowe has a little of everything, really nice place, my fav mountain, expensive as tits

kilington: good overall, not as good as stowe, but less expensive
snow: PARK PARK PARK
smuggs: kinda cool backcountry, super cheap, no park, slow 3 person lifts
 
Want to ski a sick mountain for cheap? Want to have a sick laid back vibe? Want to have sweet natural features and sick glades? Burke mountain in vermont has all these things. Funnest east coast mountain to ski on a pow day. No lift lines. Ohh yeee
 
Jay Peak is one of my favorite places. They have sick terrain and the best snow.

Overall, Stowe has a bit of everything. Good park and terrain. I would go there, but it is pretty expensive. You should also check out killington and sugarloaf for overall resorts
 
I would say Killington unless you are on going during peak holidays, it can get pretty crowded,

if there is a good storm coming in, Jay Peak

Looking to save some cash and avoid lift lines but still ski great all around terrain, Sugarbush
 
^This. I'm going there for 3 days during march with my family. So siked.

Whats the lowdown on the parks, like which one has M-L stuff, which one has XL. Doesn't really say on the park website. Also, what are some good tree/expert runs? Brackett basin and the snow fields look pretty sweet, but anything else? Thanks in advance.
 
sugarloaf. dope parks, i like it better than carinthia. brackett basin looks sick and if you get a big storm while your their the snowfields are so fun. only bummer is 5+ hour drive. super chill vibe there too
 
Since you are up in Rhode Island u should probably check out some place in VT, but if you are ever near PA, u should definitely check out 7springs. It's great for everything

mount snow has the best park but they also have gnarly trees on the north face (next to ripcord, always fresh tracks) and on the sunbrook face (dark side of the moon). and then if you're a local you can always find stashes around. Stop by fatty lane too then go hit inferno
 
HOLIDAY VALLEY!!!!!!! haha my g parents have ski house in Ellicutville (spelling?) there so its the only east coast place ive skied=)
 
Pico. no one skis it. perfect condish all the time. sick trees. and the park is kinda small, but well put together. and cheap as hell. no lift lines + cheap prices= bang for your buck.
 
I love Ellicottville! I grew up skiing there, same with my mom. My g-rents had a challet there till about 5 years ago.
 
Stowe has the best of everything: great snow, excellent park, and some gnarly chutes that you can ski. Also, it is located in a great little town, and is a short drive from Burlington. Jay is to secluded, and I think that all other VT mountains (save for Killington) don't have a good balance between park/terrain/nightlife.
