East coast skiers way better at rails

Yea, because all you east coast kids know how to do its 5 switch ups on a 10 foot box. If that makes you better at rails then so be it.

5798271 Theres alot of aspects of newschool skiing. Ever heard of the collins brothers? The Oregon guys are a very small part. That wasnt even that long ago. Whoever said we cant ski ice but you can ski pow is a moron. Its not like its pow here everyday. I agree you may be better at rails but thats about where it stops. I dont really want to go in depth, because its a pointless arguement. Tricks of cliffs, BC booters, lots of park riders, and big mountain all come from here, theres lots of rail guys as well. East coast is like all rails some jumps.

The only reason they are better at rails is because all they have there is rails, and because thier mountains are super flat so they cant have good jumps.

lol, michigans not even close to the east coast, but yeah kids from the mid west also kill it.

mn nice

hornbeck and some ohio/wisco/illinois/mn kids kill it too.

i live in the east and i HATE rails. if i lived out west i would never hit a rail again in my life. after years of htiting rails over and over i am so sick of them.

my mountain still consists of one 30 footer and some rails. the landing is gauranteed ice almost all the time. so focusing on rails is what has to happen

believe it or not, i was joking you moron. you were just too stupid to pick up on it hahahaha.

As an east coast skier im proud of my rail skills and they have progressed a ton because of the lack of good jumps and all the ice here. basically all i ride is rails and i love it because it has forced me to get way better at them.
east coasters have the rails so they get good at them, west coasters have the jumps so they get good at themim proud to be an east coaster

sorry for the double post but this is our east coast crew editi think it represents our rail skills because of lack of jumps really well(im in the blue pants btw)

The most popular man in the industry? What are you on? If the industry included only newschoolers you would be right.

The best gauge of who the most popular skiers are is the powder readers pole. Wallisch appears nowhere on that, as he should not.

Wallisch is not a big deal on TGR. He is not even close to the most popular man in the industry.

Some folks here REALLY need to get out more.

Once again, east coast skiers DO NOT dominate the industry.

Seth Morrison, Sage, Shane McConkey, Tanner Hall, Mark Abma, Sean Petit.......The east coast cannot throw together a list like that.

There are plenty of great park skiers from the east, I will give you that.

Jesus. It really gets annoying reading this drivel. The terrain in the west is MUCH steeper than anything in the east. You need to move west to get to terrain like that. The whole ice factor would be true if the east had steep terrain, but it does not. West coast skiers are better, anyone who has lived in both places knows that. Those who disagree are in denial.

For the record, I grew up back east. I'm just honest enough to speak the truth. The people who ski Squaw or Jackson everyday DESTROY those that ski Sunday River or Mad RIver. Anyone who has lived in both places and is honest will tell you that.

Are the east coast kids better at rails? Probably. I won't argue that. Are they better skiers? No.

No. PARK SKIING and newschool are different things. The original new school started in the mid 90's with guys like McConkey, Kreitler, and Cummings skiing big lines on mid fat skis that would look skinny now. They were the ones that changed things. Since then newschool is often incorrectly labeled as park skiing.

Skis like the K2 four, the K2 El Camino, and the Volant powerkarve were the original newschool skis. Newschool was around before the park stuff got going.

i get what you are trying to do, but you fucked it up, bad.

dumont is from maine, you spelled shane's name wrong, and like 7 of the people listed dont really ski rails.

but i would gladly trade being crazy at rails for real snow and big mountains. hooray for Colorado.

they should have some kind of east vs. west video contest to settle this....by the way east would destroy

i'm pretty shitty at both, but i'd have to say im better at rails. im east coast btw. ive grown up on a hill, doubt more than 1500 feet elevation. the park was tiny, so they really only ever have rails.

rails- not as fun as really any other part of freeskiing, but yeah thats what we settle for. urban stuff is way different that park rails imo. much more dangerous, much more discipline, so much cooler looking.
