East Coast Ski purchasing

I live In vermont. I ski jay peak every weekend and I log about 50 days a year. I'm looking for a new pair of shred sticks. I'm 5'8 160 lbs and i like to ski fast and hard all day. moguls, chunder, buff, glop, powder, park, groomers, steeps, trees. everything. I currently ride on rossignol sickle and moment deathwish. the deathwishes to me where a little slidey and sketchy to ski really fast on hardpack/variable conditions. They where good in powder, but if its not fresh, they don't quite meet my needs. the sickles on the other hand have more of the traditional sidecut feel and right amount of girth. The only problem with my sickles is that they're a little too small for me (171) i'm looking for something in the 173-180cm ski. prefer something fatter than 103mm at the waist but nothing wider than 115m.

I ski competitively on the Ski the east freeride tour and i need something that will charge hard almost everyday of the year. I've been looking at Faction CT 3.0, Faction 3.zero, Line supernatural 115, Nordica Patron, Salomon Q-115,

Any ideas of what skis i should really look into for everyday east coast?

If you've been on the freeride tour for a little while now you've seen all the kids on factions who get on the podium. I know last year noah did most of the comps on 3.zeroes, and griffin did his on 4.0s, this years im pretty sure noah is either going to be on 4.0's or chapters so thats what they are on.

I've been on 3.0s all season and they're sick, so sick I think I'm getting a second pair. I'm 5'5 and on 175's but I should have some 183's on the way as well. They are also super light so don't worry about sizing up.

thanks man, if you have any other questions feel free to pm me, or find me at the mountain.

ive had bentchetlers for the past 5 years on the east, the only ski im considering switching to is the 4.0, I love my bentchetlers, playful and i find no issues at the tight trees at jay, charging rough shit, or just cruising.

ive only held a pair of 4.0s and 3.0s they seem sick, def lighter and stiffer than the bentchetler, flat under foot vs camber of the bentchetlers i could def see them being a great ski for responsiveness in the tight spots, and stiff for charging chunder, ice, and whatever else mother nature throws.

been looking for a similar ski also. You think having no camber on the EC is worth it? I have been looking all over at new skis and can't decide either. But just can't give up on the camber. I feel like I would lose so much without it on the EC

Same here man, the bentchetlers have camber underfoot and ive been a big fan of it, the 4.0 is flat underfoot and with it being so stiff (much stiffer than bentchetlers) that's the big deciding factor for me, i want to demo a pair to see what they feel like in comparison

Look at the 4frnt Devastator. They are wonderful for everything you are asking of them!

My freeski coach at jay has them and I enojyed riding them! they where a little big but i ski the way he skis and I think they would also make a great ski, in just a size down.

For sure man....I ride 184s at 5'11" and 150lbs, and they feel absolutely perfect.

It seems to me that your focus is more on all mountain than on park. If riding switch is not something you do often I would recommend a 100-115mm waist ski with a good amount of tip rocker with either a small amount of tail rocker or even a flat tail for the added stability you had mentioned in regards to the Deathwish.

I would check out any of the following MICROBREW skis companies... (Got to support the small guy!)

ON3P: Wrenegade 102/112 OR Steeple 102/112

MOMENT: Belafonte OR Underworld

FACTION: Candide Thovex 3.0

WHITEDOT: Preacher, Director, or Ranger

BLACK DIAMOND: Amperage, Zeolot, or Gigawat

DPS: Wailer 105 OR 112 RPC

PRAXIS: Concept OR GPO

4FRNT: Raven, Renegade, OR hoji

ARMADA: Invictus, Norwak, or JJ 2.0

I have nothing bad to say about the 3.Zeros. I use them as my East Coast daily driver, and I do not ski at places with anywhere near as much snow as Jay. They crush through variable, float and pow, and hold a great turn through hardpack. I am very interested in the 3.0 because they are a lighter 3.zero with a more powder focused rocker, which seems very appealing.

However, for a place like Jay, I would recommend the ON3P Kartel 106 or the Blizzard Peacemaker. These both are just more nimble and maneuverable for all the tree skiing that takes place at Jay. The 2016 Candide 3.0 would work too. They thinned the waist to 108mm, and tightened the radius to 20m (changes that I am extremely bummed about, but will actually be perfect for your situation).

Also the Black Crows Atrius would be ideal as well. My cousin loves his for northern New England tree skiing, and if you can get them without difficulty I would say pull the trigger.

You need at least some camber here. The 4.0 would work a select powder only ski, on hardpack? Wash out city. All about the salomon rocker 2 122.

Been riding the salomon rocker 2 122 since it was first rreleased and it's amazing here in new England as an everyday ski. Has enough camber underfoot and is stable at speeds, playful and a full twin tip. Rips in bumps and trees ,only weak spot is a bit clunky for park but obviously at 122.
