East Coast hard core comp

You know what the East Coast needs? A big comp, one that fits within the East Coat hard core vibes. Something with street style features and a ton of $ up for grabs. Invite the underdogs of the ski world that mostly focus on edits and not comps. The skiers out there pushing it and making nothing in return. It would be a way to give back to that side of skiing while shining a light on the athletes and their abilities. It could be held at a resort or a big city park, this is something that is needed in the ski world imo.

Love the idea. Problem is big money. Big names = big money. Underdogs = small money

Make it about the event, let sponsors set up stand for people to see their products get people drawn in and the show on top of it all is the skiing. The more entertaining of an event the more $ it will bring in.

You basically just described all East Coast rail jams.

Except none of those exist anymore and same with all Hype east coast comps. Rails to Riches Gone, North Face Park and Pipe open, Dumont cup, Salmon Jib academy, Gatorade Free Flow tour, Stratton Young gun open, Last Chance on Sundance at Nashoba, Carinthia Open, Loon Hike and Huck.

There's more I'm forgetting but the fact is all these are gone and the local comp scene has disappeared. There is a correlation between this and the first Olympics when FIS took over the comp scene. If your a local mountain and FIS runs the comp, then every kid trying to get USSA, and or USASA points will show up, so its guaranteed money for all parties.

Yup and this is why one needs to come back. People want it, it's good for the ski industry, and good for making names.

Jay peak used to do a comp that started with some big mountain line, then you skied down to the park and hit some rails, and were judged on both sections and I think that is the embodiment of east coast hardcore real stuff, especially because of how bitch cold it was and how sketch the conditions usually were

Gotta give [tag=55432]@-Dan[/tag] some credit. You pretty much described down rails and double kinks.

not a lot of exposure though on a scale I imagine OP is talking about. You don't see big name sponsors flocking to sign these people, but it is a sick event and is a great thing for the east coast park scene

isn’t this just steel city showdown? those features are massive, but it is a lot of already-pro riders

No more steel city unfortunately but they have been having a Toyota sponsored Tom wallisch rail jam now that’s free entry with a pretty sweet cash purse especially for a free jam I believe it was 2500$ for 1st,1000$ for 2nd and 500 for 3rd this past year

Current best rail jam out east. Shout out Dan big time. Everytime I went was too much fun, brings many homies together for a great sesh.

Don’t forget about the park features that are frozen too solid to rake.
