Supposed to break record highs in VT over the next couple days. Losing snow at a ridiculous rate.

I hate the January thaw
 
yeah this sucks.... looks like some rain coming too later on in the week. hopefully we get pounded with snow once it gets cold again
 
Hey thanks for rubbing it in asshole! and at least learn how to spell snowing as a skier you should know that.
 
its foggy as fuck too... I like the half pipe now its nice and soft instead of icy, but theres big shit patches in the bottom...
 
here in the west we're staying preeeeetty darn consistant. thats the difference, east coast gets dumped on, then it goes. we're always happy here.
 
out West has been getting massive avi slides inbounds due to bad layering of massive dumps on thawed ice. we might see avi risk out East this year as there's now THREE LAYERS of thaw ice in the snowpack. this is ridiculous. watch out on exposed slopes -- sh*t might slide that has never slid before so keep to the trees and away from slide run-out gullies once the temps freeze again and it snows.

yah this rain is suck.
 
the snows melting so fast that theres mist blowing off of it which makes my hill so foggy. Everythings basically going to have to start from scratch again. oh well we had an early decent season so thats good.
 
69 here in upstate new york today, we beat the old record (55) by 14 degrees. thank god im moving to colorado on august 21st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Ya I'm supposed to be going skiing tomorrow but I don't know what the conditions are like at my mountain. All the snow is eventually gonna come back, but ya January thaw sucks...

the midwest feels your pain. 62 and pouring rain and tornadoes here in Wisconsin. WTF its January. rain and tornadoes. wtf?
 
yeah ... I went to Sugarbush today and the conditions were shitty almost all over the place.

A 18 y-o. guy even killed himself on the slopes, may he R.I.P.
 
we have soo much snow this warm weather will barely effect it. today at okemo was eppicccc. park conditions were nice and soft. im stoked for this weeks skiing. dont worry tho! winters coming back next week! its only on a week vacation!
 
Does anyone know how much this is effecting far north, like Tremblant? I am going there next week and this time last year there was barely any natural snow.
 
my thoughts exactly..im soo excited for loon tomorrow itll be sick with nice soft snow and spring like conditions
 
it's raining up here. so warm the snow is steaming up into the atmosphere. never quite seen anything like it. watching things melt UP is weird.

the warm front is so massive that it has reached the arctic and is melting the arctic icepack. i shit you not. check out a global weather map -- the warm front curves all the way up into far northern quebec, as in arctic territory.

this is a global warming pattern -- very sudden, very drastic temperature changes, and a very large system with potentially massive consequences in a short amount of time. we're worried about another ice storm here -- 10th anniversary of the last one !!
 
Werdd the warm front will pass hope we get some cold weather to start blowing snow again i woke up today and i was like damm its hot outside time to bust out the skateboard lol
 
Last day of really warm temps. Supposed to snow Thurs on and off through the weekend. I love this everchanging weather.
 
blahhh, im so sad. its 60, high of 70 in syracuse....

goen off to ski for a bit tonight anyway

more snow on the way later in the week and back to normal temps with snow all next week
 
i would think so because as snow melts presipatation is made...but its suposto rain this weekend but if it dont all fall then we will get some dec. snow fall when it gets cold
 
You completely failed earth science, didn't you? Snowmelt does not create new precipitation.

Anyways, it's 65 here in WNY, my hill had to close the park yesterday as the features were being too exposed and unstable. And today the whole area had to close because the connecting trails were bare. The snow has melted at such an insane pace.

Luckily snow and rain tomorrow, then 2 days of 40 degree temperatures then over the weekend highs will be below freezing, so snowmaking can resume and get everything open again.
 
yeah this sucks! its like april weather where i live....hopefully february will bring some big dumps of white stuff!
 
yea it was almost fucking 60 in burlington today... burton is gone so area all my setups around campus

we're gona hit the long down flat tonight but probably have to shovel in snow
