East Coast Colleges

I am live in Burlington VT, near Stowe, Sugarbush and Smugglers Notch. I don't want to go to UVM because it's too close. I am looking at places like Norwich, SUNY Morrisville, UNH, quinnipiac, edicott and Umass Lowell. How is the skiing, or the rest of the college?

SUNY Morrisville is a shit hole. Everyone I'm friends with that goes there hates it. You're close to 2 decent places to ski(togg and lab) but they aren't very good compared to what you're used to in VT. If you're looking to go to a good school, its not Moo-ville and if you're looking for good skiing it's not there either.

Morrisville sucks is it a 4 year school now? USed to only be 2 I knew some ill ass cats who went there when I was a student who'd visit and rage up at SU and it was lame as fuck that I became a junior and they became adults who had graduated.

DOn't be a fucking moron thinking you can't go to the best school in the area cause its close to home I grew up in Newton MA and know someone who passed on Boston College for that reason and hes packing groceries age 29 true story and he got into BC but nowhere else close to that good.

Check out plymouth state in NH. Skiing wise its in a great spot, not the most academically prestigious school ever though

hahahahahahahahahahahaha being a guy that went there and dropped out to come out west to go to CU Boulder, I cannot stress this enough. if ur looking to fly through a lot of classes drunk, like i did, and make a lot of money by selling coke and weed, which i didn't do, then totally go to plym. girls aren't all to pretty there, but there are a few lookers. "ski day"'s pretty sweet tho, and most teachers get that a lot of kids are just winter bums essentially. but yeah i passed most of my classes with little to no work/effort. made deans list too. but honestly don't vote it out, sure its not prestigious as others, but its definitely a decent college with a lot to do. and everyones pretty friendly and chill there, good people and good times are always gonna happen for sure.

Qunnipiac is such a shitty school. Everyone who went there that I know said it sucked because everyone there was super preppy and stuck up and the party life was minimal.

SUNY Cortland might be worth a look. I applied and got accepted there when I was looking at colleges and it's a really cool college town right near I think greek peak

Don't go to Connecticut. It's preppy as hell and decently far away from anything you're used to skiing wise.

Like a bunch of other people said, check out New Hampshire. There's a couple good options if you're mostly just looking to be close to mountains. I have a bunch of friends who go to Keene, UNH, and Plymouth and they're all bored with the academics.

As for Umass the closest ski area is probably wachusett, an hour away from Amherst. its alright for where it is but it is expensive and can be shitty. They have night skiing till 10 every night and its pretty fun.

What do you need to know about endicott? I didn't go there but a few of my good friends did

Its probably miserable if you aren't a varsity athlete people only go there to continue their sports careers and extend their high school glory days since they can't accept they aren't good enough to get a d1 scholarship.

I took a class at Salem St where the prof was from Endicott and taught there during the day and she insulted her students very often saying everyone there was an idiot.

Go to UVM OP if you can get in you are offering up some really shitty (and expensive) schools as alternatives.

every single college on this list fucking blows, if you ever want a job doing anything other than being a midlevel manager at a strip club stay away from the colleges you named

companies nowadays recruit grads based on the school you went to, a lot of big companies have standards for their hiring process and will only recruit kids out of certain schools

Yup lot of truth here hit up community college and transfer into a real school before any of the shit hes suggesting all are way worse than UVM and that school is good only if you are from VT paying instate or are rich and have money to ski and dick around and will take advantage of decent social life. Find a sick CC out west and ski a lot then go to a real school if you want to ski that bad.

UVM is expensive if you are coming from out of state, buts as far UVM itself is concerned its a decent campus, and the city of Burlington is pretty nice, like church street and stuff

If all these colleges suck, than what east coast colleges would you recommend?

I have like a 3.7 gpa so I cant go to Harvard or anything

Dont go to Lowell, my brother went there for his first year and would hear, guns nearby, go to parties with fucking coke, its just a sketchy area. UNH is in a good location with great skiing up north.

I went to UConn. There are plenty of non-preppy people with something like 17,000 undergrads. I had a great time with my other flannel-wearing brethren. It's actually an ideal place for people who love the outdoors because it's all woods. It was perfect for someone getting an ecology or natural resources education because you spent so much time in the woods. I guess it also helped that my major was ecology so no one in my major was preppy..

But regardless if you go to a big enough school you don't have to worry about what the "dominant" type of people are at that school because you're guaranteed to find other people like you.

As far as skiing, I used to go to Mount Snow every other weekend. It's only 2 hours away.

It's like you guys forget the rest of the east coast every time...

I am and always will be a huge proponent of Umaine Farmington. Close to Sugarloaf and Sunday River, Saddleback if it opens, and right in town is a small hill called titcomb which is always fun to get drunk and shred at.
