East Coast BC Revealed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn straight, Colden can be a killer if you don't know what you're doing. I went up on skins and fatties with Rondonee last season - major work! I still have night tremmors thinking about the ski down (and I mean that in a good way).

I have the Slide Guide, BTW - Drew Haas is a friend of mine. I would say the only way to make any real use of it is with Google Earth. Find the slides and GPS coordinates and then plan your trip with a topo map. But as you say, going with a guide is best.

i jsut hiked up the trap dike and outo the main slide a couple of weeks ago. Are you referting to the main slides, and rappering the last few pitches, or the Southeast Slide

The ice boom just keeps frozen ice blocks from flowing down the Niagara river and causing damage to the hydroelectric power inlets.

Lake Erie froze still prior to the installation of the ice-boom in 1964. It's due to it's very shallow depths in comparison to the other Great Lakes.

I'm freaking Batty man!

I hiked the old abandoned ski area of Bluemont yesterday. That place seems like it was gnarly back in the day. I'm going to ski it this winter for sure. Some decent looking steeper stuff there!

I wanna know more about the backcountry in the adirondack territory. Do any of you have other resources other then this book? Im getting the feeling that this isnt something you just do on a whim, you have to know your shit, and I'll be the first to tell you I dont. My friends and I are thinking about doing a trip up there during spring semester some time, but I need to do some research.

i believe the book he's referring to basically has pictures of the slides, mtns etc. im sure if you go to our local EMS store they'll have some more info for you or just use the internet. you'll come upon something. but like you said, this isnt something you just can just do on the whim. you need some gear, some serious time and some energy.
