East Coast All Mountain Ski

Looking for something that is a semi-charger and wide enough for some powder. I am currently ski in Pa so I don't need something super wide, however I do mange to find the occasional pow and small "cliffs". I also make trips out west every year and plan to move out there in around a year so I want the ski to be able to handle the terrain out there as well. I am 5"6 125 lbs. and I like to ski aggressively.

Skis I've Looked at

- Moment Commander 98 and 108

- Kartel 96 or 108 (Doesn't seem like a charger, but I've heard good things)

- Moment Bibby 108

Honestly I wouldn’t recommend any of those for the east coast if you care about being able to hold an edge. I grew up skiing PA and brought my pb&js back for a day at camelback and really was wishing I was on something skinnier and full camber. You need all the edge you can get out there and because of the rocker profile of those skis I wouldn’t want them for all mountain in PA.

yeah OP personally i'd go with something stiff ish with a 90s waist width and probably camber

it'll work in PA and then be able to hold up out west as well. anything bigger than 90s in PA is going to be a pain in the ass honestly

I found a pair of k2 pinnacle 95s pretty cheap what do you think about those

I demoed them in icy conditions in VT and they handled pretty well. I just didnt like how wide the tip of the ski was for a 95 underfoot ski. I also tried the Armada Tracer 98 and Black Crows camox that same day and preferred those skis over the pinnacles

yeah i think that'd be a pretty good choice. like the other dude said there are other options but if you have a good deal on those, those seem like a capable ski on all kinds of days and conditions

i don't think they have a twin, or maybe just not full twin tip, but i'm not sure, so if that's important for you make sure to check

Yea they have a partial twin tip. Also would you recommend a 170cm or 176cm. I am 5"6 125lbs

The reason Pinnacles are cheap is because the 2020 Mindbenders 90Ti and 99Ti are out now and they are WAY BETTER skis. Either of those would be a great East Coast/trip out West ski as they are stiffer, hold a great edge and can handle afternoon crud well.

Blizzard Rustler 9 another great option that’s fun, playful, great edge hold and very good float for it’s 92-94mm waist. My daily driver in similar conditions.

I've gotta disagree with anything over 90 being a burden in PA. Grew up riding blue mountain and my favorite ski I rode there was 102 in the waist. That being said I didn't ski on days that were brick.

My opinion: Put up with something wider for a year or so until you move out west. 95-105ish in the waist and a little taller than you. Dont sleep on the wrenegade series from ON3P, they rip, HARD.

To be clear, I said anything over the 90s, as in more than 100. I agree that 100ish is fine but after that it’s really diminishing returns on the east

I was thinking the same thing when I posted this. I think that getting used to something wider now will make skiing on wider skis easier once I move out to jackson in a year and a 1/2. I also won't have to worry about buying something for a daily driver if i have a 100+ under foot ski now. Wrenegades seem really nice but i might wait until next year, because the woodsman coming out next year seems super nice. From what I've heard it is like a kartel and wrenegade mix.

My arv 96s are really nice and I ski in PA. I ski at blue knob, tussey, big boulder and 7 springs. Yesterday I was on a sheet of ice and 2 weeks ago I was riding some boot deep pow. For being centermounted and the edges being worn down from rails they still are super nice for all mountain
