Early - Mid November Skiing?

I have a bunch of PTO I need to use before the end of the year, so I'm thinking I might try and take a handful of days off in the 2nd or 3rd week of November to ski. Where would my best bet be for decent early season conditions & cheap lift tickets/lodging?

Where at (state wise) are you thinking cause that will ultimately make up you decision

I live in Utah, but it looks like nobody here is going to open until around Thanksgiving. Down to travel to pretty much anywhere if it means I get to ski.

True, I know places in Colorado are looking like they might open early.

However, idk how you feel about AT/Backcountry, but that's always an option (i.e. just hiking up)

Word. I don't necessarily mind hiking, but I don't have touring bindings and skins or anything, and no avalanche gear. I like the idea of backcountry skiing but I only want to get into it once I have the right gear setup and enough knowledge to keep myself safe, you know? I'm mostly just trynna find a place I can take park laps and bomb groomers.

That makes sense, and also the right decision I feel. I think Hood might be going too, maybe some places up here in the PNW.

That's tough. Abay is open, and loveland should be by then(I think?)

You're really pretty limited. Abay is always one of the first open. Most resorts shoot for thanksgiving. Smaller resorts early to mid december. Prices might not be too bad, but you're very limited on what will be open.

Fuck my bad. I read that thinking 2nd or 3rd of Nov not week. You have some options then, but I'll shut the hell up because I already failed once.

If Mammoth gets as much early snow as last year, Id go there. The opening weekend last year was real fun, skied decent snow opening day.

The PNW is supposed to get hammered with snow this weekend.

Also you might as well just wait a few weeks until more resorts start posting opening days. Just take your PTO as late as you feel comfortable doing, and hope for snow haha

Right? The problem is I have so much built up I couldn't use it all if I took the entire month of December off to ski here (which I am, lol). So I gotta figure out a way to use the rest so I don't lose it.
