Ktown says that they are opening up the peak for some laps on the triple in mid-late Oct. Take the K1 gondy up, hit the triple, take the Gondy back to base. anybody heard anything more about it?

^that's sick. btw for all you college students I'm selling Killington College passes for $309, pm me if interested.

I LOVE YOUR POSITIVE ADDITUDE. its skiing dude. we hope for the best. im stoked for october skiing. you should be too. now shut the hell up.

i CANT WAIT! hopefully october is superrrrrr cold

what about the walkway during mid season though. it wont block trails right?

-Catwalk will still be in play for mid-season.

-Heavenly Traverse will cease to exist as a ski trail.

I'd say it's a fair trade from a personal standpoint.

Now we just need to hope for a cold October!

that walkway is fucked, that thing will be so long. i honestly dont think anyone will use that in the winter

woops didnt realize it was for snowmaking on north ridge triple, thats sick. but for mid season i hardly think anyone will use it

The plan is to not really use it outside of early season.

Distance-wise it's not that far either. It's the same vertical rise and distance as walking from the 5th parking lot at K-1 to the gondola.

It's a contingency plan for the times when snowmaking conditions are not favorable in the fall from the bottom of the North Ridge Triple to the K-1 Base. As we saw last year, that lower section of the mountain is very vulnerable to snow-loss due to it's aspect and lower elevation. This means that snow is harder to make and melts out much faster.

The stairset will help to mitigate the variable that is the lower mountain conditions and help to facilitate an earlier opening. The tradeoff? The loss of Heavenly Traverse, and a short walk at the end of the day for earlier skiing and riding.

I'll take it!

heavenly traverse!, that takes you right to coops, now all the new yorkers are going to get lost in the woods trying to find that cabin

Heavenly Traverse will live on. Killington and there stupid ass plans.WHY? So you can be open first and have sub par skiing for all the beaters to come up and wreck themselves. Just leave killington how it is.

So your telling me you would rather hike up to Catwalk or take the Glades triple to get to Coopers Cabin? I wouldnt think so.
