the only sad thing is that dogs have been selectively bred purely for the sake of bringing joy to old ladies. but that's my view
A hawk has got to eat, i don't think you can make a strong case for why the hawk shouldn't eat the dog... for all we know the old lady probably cut down the tree the hawk had made its nest so that she could build a little dog palace. or more likely all the houses and shit in the neighborhood has had an impact on the animals that make up the hawks normal diet, and now the hawk has to resort to dog snatching. Or the domestication of dogs has just made them an easier target. You can't blame the hawk for just doing what it's made to do.
at least the lady walking the dog has the ability to yank on the leash and maybe pull the dog from the grasp of the hawks talons. Then she can spend $$ on a dog shrink to help it overcome the traumatizing experience of the real world. -- that's the sad part
