EA Sports Petition to make a ski game

well if there was enough of a market to make SSX On Tour then i definetly would mind an new SSX game with skiing and boarding. it will have to be much more realistic than ON TOUR tho
 
i have heard like...very unreliable rumors that EA blackbox (guys who made EA Skate) are making a snowboarding game. which would basically be the sickest thing ever, i'd rather they make a snowboard game than skiing game anyways. all i can do is hope.
 
today was the first time that i read thru this thread, and i like that most of us agree upon someone creating a ski game. Im sure to say that most would be happy if their was a skier mode in amped. Now ive never played amped so i dont know what the gameplay is like. But what if the following gameplay would be acceptable in a skier modified version.

You play as yourself obviously, create your body to every detail (iToy possibly). But you can choose your style of skiing that your like best i.e pipe, park, jibbing, freeride. yet over the course of the game you gradually get better by progressing yourself.

Catch is that you start out with little cash and have to work your way up from dominating your shitty home mountain to getting sponsored and gradually make it up thru comps to make more cash get more sponsors and more hype. Sounds a like a good idea. huh?

Problem is that i know very little about computer and game programming, and little about copyrights and all that shit that goes with designing and engineering a game.

But if anyone knows someone that knows someone that knows what theyre doing when it comes to software engineering. Tell them about this idea and that there people who want to make this happen
 
"Jon Olsson's Pro Skier". Except way more realistic than the tony hawk games with like real, common and possible tricks like corks and actual real life places to ski at and competitions like the x games etc. also more realistic rails. make it like possible to 270 on, lip, etc. and no being able to grind everything like ssx has.
 
I really hate having to say it because I would love a realistic skiing game, but this WILL NOT HAPPEN! There is not a big enough consumer base for this kind of game. First of all, mainstream gamers for the most part don't like realistic extreme sports games. SKATE has been the exception, and even it hasn't done as well as it probably should. Second, the other thing that skate has going for it is that skating is probably the most easily accessible sport, which greatly increases the consumer base for a realistic skating game. Basically the only people that would want to play a realistic skiing game are us on newschoolers. I'm sorry to say, that's not enough to justify a high budget game like this. I would say that our only chance is a realistic snowboarding game that has the option to be a skier.

Sorry again, I hate to be so pessimistic, but that is the reality of the gaming industry.
 
yes, the game being published by ea would be a success for us, but how for ea? not enough people will but it to be profitable for them
 
skate is the sickest game ever and if EA wanted to they could make the most ridiculous skiing game ever, make it how rad. said would be perfect, it is a shame it could possibly never happen
 
also, there have been a bunch of petitions like this already on this site over the last 4 years, some of which got a bunch of signatures, and as you can see we haven't gotten a game yet.
 
It would be dope if it was like amped 2 with real skiiers and realistic tricks and parks. If the rails are like 3 million times bigger than the skiier it wouldnt be cool. Real skiiers, tricks, parks, and mountains would be sick. No speed boosters, fire, or flying stuff. I'll sign on that.
 
Agreed. Petition Online does nothing. If you make one, invite me. Andrew Pires. Make it look professional.
 
wow i thought kinda the same thing. there was like a 9 page thread or something like that 2 years ago or so. its a valiant idea but i got a huge case of deja vu seeing this thread. i mean im still down for a ski game but i dont think its gonna happen. not enough interest yet.
 
if they made a snowboard game, i could definatly see combining it with skiing like ssx.   that way they dont "risk" it not being popular enough, and they make everyone happy.  and i could definatly see EA wanting to do a snowboard game that resembles skate.  and even if they did make a skiing game,  i seriously doubt they would do a skiing game before snowboarding. 
 
yeah a facebook group would defiantly be the way to go. someone needs to creart one or i will, but i wont have the time to manage the group but someone definately needs to set one up
 
I just signed that petition but whoever wrote that pitch definitely has to re-write it. That pitch is horrible. If anyone from EA were to read that they would laugh and not even bother to look how many people have actually signed. It needs to be persuasive people!
 
For sure that would be kick ass if they dropped a skate engine in a skiing game i would not even ride my skis anymore just play that bitchn game
 
they can go out and get all these skateboarders and make a game, free skiing is on the rise so i dont really no why they dont go out and get a couple free skiers and then make a super dank game
 
If a game like this was made i would go into hibernation over the summer fufilling my skiing fix. This would be the sickest game ever... but it would be sweet if it could incorperate both park and some free-riding(cliffs,etc.) I in...signed!!
 
yeah

skate is slightly a niche game, not entirely thanks to how cool the animation is

and how well it was put together, but the game is definately the best if you actually skateboard, because the control system almost caters to someone who skateboards.

amped 2 was one of my favorite games of all time,

and amped 3 cameout and they changed the control system, which, in my opinion,

ruined the game.

But im sure they researched and realized that they would do better if they reverted to a standard control system. sucks for you andme, but its all about the $$

Who knows though, maybe skate will be successful enough that it will start to produce more sports game with skate's control scheme.

I've noticed freeskiing becoming a lot more mainstream. A small example- My little brother just recently got a shirt from Old Navy with a skier doing some corked spin with a mute. I thought it was pretty sick for Old Navy

just add every ns user name, or almost all of them so it seems half legit, no ones gonna complain that their account name on a skiing website was signed onto a petition to create a ski game
