EA skiing game

D3 is not going to be an MMO, it will follow the same model as the rest of the series, and will have multiplayer through BattleNet.

And sorry, your gonna need to wait for the official announcement man. Have faith, if you can't do that I guess just keep hating, not gonna change things one way or the other.

Thanks to everyone who is keeping the faith, especially to those who have been following this for the past 5 years, support from you has really helped this more then you'd think.

When did this become a Jib-life thread?
The truth is that you essentially hijacked the thread and hated on the fact that we were lobbying for EA to develop "ski"— never mind the fact that they are responsible for what is almost assuredly the best action sports game to date.
Anyways, you inserted yourself into this conversation, and have divulged nothing, of course people are going to be irritated as they're foaming at the mouth for a ski game. I heard about your project a couple of years ago, and I regarded it with the same skepticism that I attach to anything that sounds too good to be true. I pretty much feel the same way today. Still, I hope you go on to create a fantastic game, and I assure you I'll support it when it comes out.
Maybe until then, you should hold off on arguing in stupid threads and waving classified info in front of everyone's faces like some sort of cock tease. Go back to your dark programming hole and don't come back until you're unveiling screen shots or a trailer.

And the nature of the atmosphere changes...

OhMyBosh, while making convincing yet pessimistic arguments, some people's faith can't be extinguished..

why are all you guys hating hating on Ben, he is legit and doing exactly what you guys have been asking for and creating a realistic skiing video game, so just chill and be patient. Maybe if its not exactly what you want then maybe another game will come out, but we all just have to wait and see. So have a little faith in Jib-Life.

"This graph shows a shocking shot of faith going up 32% with a 20% drop in pessimism.."

Try to keep it within reason people..I don't wanna clean up a mess of jizz...

If you had read my post, you wouldn't have had to ask that question. This wasn't a Jib-Life thread. He turned it into one, and refuses to divulge any info. That's fine and all that he's playing it close to his chest...but why say anything at all if he's not prepared/willing to "say" anything.
I think we'd all like to believe that he's going to be successful, because at the end of the day, we all want the same thing...an incredibly realistic ski game.
And for the record...OhMyBosh, you're being an asshole. Fall back.

i dont care who makes it, if its legit ill be pumped EA or Jib-Life

Lookin forward to playing the first freestyle ski game and whoever makes it has my respect, until then both companies have my faith and i wish you the best of luck

Never meant to hijack the thread, thought you all would wanna know that it's being done.

Also, not to be a dick, but 10-20 kids pestering some EA employee (we have no idea what he does in the company, or if he in fact exists) isn't gonna get a game made.

You'd need to present them with cold hard facts that will result in at least a 30-40% ROI for them. EA doesn't make games to appease gamers, EA makes games to appease it's shareholders.

Not hating on them as a company, just if you want a game that's about the sport and truly designed for all of us who love it some much, then just chillax for a sec.

EA would produce a great game, but it would be just another game to them, it wouldn't be an 8+ year passion project that has evolved with the sport. The game we are developing does not have the allmighty $ in mind, it has each of you. All of you who spend countless hours here on NS trying to get the latest and greatest info on the sport, YOU are the ones we have in mind. It's for those of us who get wood over flurries in November/October.

If that's not what your looking for in a game then by all means petition EA and continue hating.

You will get the info about the game when it's ready to drop and not any sooner, this is a choice that was made a long time ago and is for the best.

Thanks for all the support, won't be posting again until the official update.

dont make it like skate... make it like COOL BOARDERS 4..
really thou i think it should deff be combined with the option of snowboarding... it would increase the amount of people that would buy it and could then make it a more realistic thing to produce and generate the necessary sales
also by combining it, it may encourage people to cross over as a result of exposure to skiing. not so much the peps that already snowboard but more so the newbs that dont have much of a foundation on skiing/ snowboarding.

i am a shareholder

skate and skate 2 appeased me by making me money :)

i am also a gamer, skate and skate 2 appeased me by wasting im guessing about at least a week (in hours) of my life jammin

it will be both skiing and boarding. :: ) Has been in the design for close to 5 years now to provide for both sports.

::(

imo the less focus on skiing culture the worse the game will be, unless theres two completely and i mean completely different stories developed by different people(skiers and snowboarders). it cant be like ssx on tour where it doesnt really matter which one you choose, because you do the same thing in each.

You're absolutely right about the first point....a handful of kids from a niche website are not going to muscle EA into green lighting a skiing project. For me, this thread was much more an opportunity to fantasize and commit some ideas to paper for the sake of discussion, as opposed to a full fledged "pitch".
You're also right when talking about EA's decisions being driven almost exclusively by profit. However, producing high quality games still remains a key determinant in terms of a games success. Obviously quality isn't the sole factor, and the argument could be made (and won) that advertising, marketing, and having a built in audience for a particular game are all every bit as important. You can bet that a game based on a motion picture/franchise is probably going to do numbers. You can also bet that a sequel to a commercially successful game is going to do numbers. Lastly, a well designed game that is ultimately a fun and rewarding game experience will probably do numbers. Now, if it's completely neglected by the marketing dept., the numbers may underwhelm early, but a good game is still going to sell— even if the game is initially targeted at a relatively speaking narrow audience. I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that a fantastic game based on skiing could easily transcend the genre and go on to be a cross over hit assuming that it's simply fun to play and it looks good.
Again, I don't know why you insist that in some way EA's size and position as an industry giant necessarily means that it would produce a game that is in some way untrue to skiing. It appears that your general position is that your project is somehow more sincere/better as it's a labor of love. While that's well and good, and undoubtedly true, (the sincerity part), the realist in me is inclined to accept sacrifices in "coreness" for the sake of getting my hands on a game that was developed by an experienced and incredibly well funded studio. Not to mention, the gaming industry is a copycat industry. Surely they would look at the success of SKATE and acknowledge that a huge reason why it was so well received is that it was cosigned by the sports "core" (hate that word). Frankly, I thought SKATE, and its sequel, were incredibly authentic and true to the culture of skating. I spent a huge portion of my time playing that game setting a session marker and trying the same line ("line" meaning trying to noseblunt a picnic table set up on some stairs)over and over again. If that's not true to skate culture, I don't know what is. In fact, I'd argue that EA's resources and ability to reach out to the right people put them in a fine position to create an "authentic" experience.
I want to say again, that I wish you the best in your effort, and that I anxiously await details on the game and its release. I truly hope it ends up being an incredible game, I will definitely support it. But, you DID sort of derail this thread (intentionally or not) with the mention of your game....as cryptic as it were... Of course, people are going to be disappointed/skeptical when you won't offer details, on top of raining on the parade by casting doubt on EA's ability to produce a good game. I respect that choice, but you had to know that the reaction was going to be negative. But, to dismiss all the voices of objection or dissent as hate, is bullshit.

Info:

- Skiing and snowboarding

- Based off of the idea of Skate
