(But really I wait for video/photo conventions and get hyped for them too...)
 
I'm pretty pumped, although I can't imagine it's going to be that crazy of a year. Too many developers worried about the next gen consoles that they don't want to get caught up making a game for a platform with maybe one year left. Next year though is going to be nuts.

But hell, it's E3...it's always awesome!
 
probably won't be any details at this years E3 but I've heard the old infinity ward crew (the ones that made Call of Duty 4 ie: the best one) are working with EA to have the first shooter for the next gen consoles.
 
ive noticed in the past 3 years my excitement for video games has gone down greatly. Used to be so stoked for e3 now i dont give a shit.
 
Apparently a lot of developers are saying that developing games for the wii U sucks, and that so far the next gen xbox is the easiest. I feel bad for Nintendo, they're going to need so many good first party games to keep their ship afloat.
 
i am just throwing this out there, but nintendo has their shit on lock.... i am predicting another killer system and will have no problem moving units
 
I don't have as much faith as you, but I hope you're right. I'm an Xbox guy, but it would suck if it was just Microsoft and Sony. My guess is that a lot of this speculation will depend on the price of the Wii U, which I guess isn't going to be revealed at E3.

But with the confusion that a lot of people are having over the name of the new console (whether its a new console or an add-on) and the fact that not many developers may be willing to make ports to games (seeing as how this console is trying to appeal more to hardcore gamers than the original Wii did), I'd be nervous.

But like I said, this is all just my pessimistic speculation. I really hope that Nintendo stays in it, because they're really the spearhead of a lot of innovative and fun gameplay. And hell they've once again got a head start on the competition!

you can't innovate on controller much without it being uncomfortable as fuck and xbox has a very comfortable controller so I don't blame them for going with a similar design.
 
i can understand your skepticism, but their track record has been pretty on point. their past systems have all been incredibly successful, the more recent ds lite, dsi, dsi xl, and 3ds have been the best selling handheld gaming devices at one point or another (or still are), and the wii has easily outsold the ps3 and 360. i personally have 100% faith that nintendo knows exactly what they are doing and will continue with their successes

the 3DS flopped like a mother fucker, did not in any way shape or form sell how they hoped....in fact i'm pretty sure they shaved 80 bucks off the cost after five months of its release.

The Wii sells more because of its price point, and of its appeal to younger kids, being fun for the family type strategy, which is brilliant and also its nintendo a house hold name that has been around for years.

though I think this time around I think Sony and Microsoft will narrow the gap, but it will all depend on the price points, and which system doesn't come with a release error (ie: red ring of death, and the playstations yellow light thing or what ever that was) We will have to wait for information obviously, but I see the xbox and playstation basically being the same system with a different name, i'm really intrigued to get info on new consoles, not sure if I'll buy one or not, don't feel like dropping 450 - 600 dollars on one.
 
no the 3ds did not do as well, but i was grouping it with the DS platform as a whole, sorry for the confusion.

that being said, aside from the 3ds for the most part, as of late nintendo has been pretty good. regardless of the fact that the wii is a pricepoint, that is still part of their marketing strategy, and if they follow the same formula, or something along the same lines for the wii u, i believe it will be successful.

i am over arguing and defending something that is entirely based on sales speculations, and speculations about the other consoles being released haha
 
My guess right now is that the next gen consoles are going to be sold like an iphone. Less cost up front, but something that you'll pay off over time, perhaps in a form of an xbox live contract or something. Because they're not going to be able to make a super powerful console for as cheap as most people are going to want to pay. I mean seriously, would anybody here be able to afford a $600 console right now?
 
I will say this. Im going to get a Wii U. Why? Just the dynamics of the system/controler. It just changes the whole gaming dynamic. I think that the Microsoft/Sony are going to fail. Just looking at the concepts/rumors for the new xbox, and playstation.....it doesn't change anything or making gaming any more fun( just better graphics, more online play, no backwards compatibility...etc). I think nintendo is just trying to make gaming as fun as possible.
 
Incredibly excited for Halo 4, and Splinter Cell Blacklist. Happy to see that Halo 4 is changing things up a little bit, it'll finally be interesting again since you won't be fighting all of the same enemies that you have the last 3 games straight more or less. And I'm excited for Splinter Cell, hoping that it will combine the feel of Conviction with the older games.
 
Halo 4 looks like shit. It's a combination of Sci-Fi genre cliches. The little twists they threw in the trailer are not exciting. The gameplay looks terrible, and fuck me I can't wait for bungie to put something out again. The last halo game I enjoyed was ODST. Good campaign and an interesting take on traditional halo combat
 
You thought ODST was a good campaign?? Most boring gameplay out of most FPS's in my opinion. No offense intended at all though.

I enjoyed it. We all have different tastes for games. I don't play console FPS for high speed intense gameplay. I will play CS, Warsow, Tribes, or what ever to get that. I play console games for a laid back couch experience; games like bioshock, elder scrolls, halo, fallout, rockstar games to name a few.

I really liked the film noire theme of ODST.
 
Also, all of this kinect stuff is pissing me off. It seems like the only stuff they're adding for kinect is voice commands for games and other apps. Seriously? Why can't I just use my mic to do that shit? Or can I? Either way, why should this much emphasis be put on kinect, when it could just as easily be done with a microphone?
 
The only presentation without auto-cue. The South Park guys presented their game really well. Shame the rest of the presenters were as dull as...

Actually i have play ALL the halo games, and 2 was by far the best in my opinion. This looks like a return to that form.

You portray your self a a game snob, but then say things that don't make sence. You play games that take over your life ( fallout, elder scrolls, bioshock) as a casual laid back expericence? This makes no sence....ask anybody who plays these games. They are NOT laidback games. You think Halo doesn't have highspeed game play? Have you ever played a free for all slayer match on x-box live?

I would think not. Shut your mouth.
 
and I gave you my opinion, sorry for making it seem like an attack.

^^ and to the guy asking about the kinect above....I think Microsofts intent is to put the kinect in the next Xbox so its all one system, thus making you be able to use your microphone on your head set.
 
I would say Halo 2 and Reach are the best offerings in the series when graded on an OVERALL criteria. Obviously Halo CE will always be a classic. I just don't understand how people can take Halo 3 over Reach? Halo 3 was a complete waste of time besides the Campaign which was awesome.
